I’m delighted to welcome the DJI Mini 5 Pro to the Bramble & Wagg fleet.

Alongside our DJI Mavic 4 Pro, it gives us greater flexibility to carry out inspections in environments where a lightweight platform is particularly advantageous – including built-up urban locations and scenarios where overflight of people may be permitted, subject to the applicable regulations and operational risk assessment.

Huge congratulations to our Assistant Surveyor, Natalie Bratby, who has passed her RICS Associate assessment on the Residential Survey and Valuation pathway. Natalie is now AssocRICS and will shortly become a Registered Valuer.

Natalie first joined us two years ago on a summer internship, before stepping up as Assistant Surveyor alongside completing her MSc in Building Surveying — no small undertaking, and she has handled it with brilliant dedication.

Her passion is residential surveying with a real love for traditional buildings, heritage and sustainability 🏡🌿 Her prize-winning dissertation explored how older buildings can be sensitively retrofitted to be more energy efficient while protecting the character and fabric that make them special — exactly the kind of thinking the industry needs more of.

Natalie’s qualification really strengthens our residential pre-purchase survey offering, giving homeowners and buyers even more expertise to rely on.

We couldn’t be more pleased to see Natalie reach this milestone, and we can’t wait to watch her career and specialism grow from here.

🍴 The Hungry Surveyor X Everyday People

Don’t fancy a Sunday roast? We didn’t either this week, so we headed to Everyday People for their exquisite ramen. Keeping it simple with some pickles to start, a traditional shoyu for Nicola and a tonkotsu gyokai for Jon who opted for a deluxe version adding chicken, pork chashu and a whole ramen egg to the mix.

We ordered:
Appetiser - house pickles
Ramen bowls - Shoyu (double soup, pork belly), Tonkotsu Gyokai Deluxe (everything in rich paitan soup)

🍴 The Hungry Surveyor X Mesa

Last Saturday we headed to Mesa for the best cheeseburger in Nottingham, and it didn’t disappoint (chips optional). With a fantastic set of sharing plates to accompany the main event, going out for a burger doesn’t have to be boring.

We ordered:
Appetiser - picked plums with bacon
Sharing - sprouts and potatoes, gnudi, duck and pork rillettes, butternut squash
Main event - ex-dairy bacon double cheese burger
Drinks - orange wine

🍴The Hungry Surveyor X Gusto Restaurants

This Sunday we visited Gusto Restaurants (Nottingham) for a roast with a twist.

Gusto is a small chain of casual dining restaurants with an Italian flavour mainly concentrated over the North-West.

We opted for their sharing roast which featured three meats (beef, pork and chicken) with all the trimmings and two welcome extras: cauliflower in carbonara sauce in lieu of cauliflower cheese and a shepherds pie ragu in lieu of mash potato.

The roast was delicious although you need to be quick serving it to ensure everything stays warm - heating the plates a little more would have been welcome.

I would definitely recommend the Gusto sharing roast, if you’re looking for a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and a little twist.
