Due to the invasion of yellow rattle, followed by a road closure in the village preventing our hay from being cut, I'm going to be relying heavily on my hay chap this winter.
Thankfully he is incredibly knowledgeable and can supply Timothy hay for our tubby companions and some much needed protein boosting haylage for the thoroughbreds ❤️

We were all hoping for rain, but Dartmoor never lets me down. I reckon we had 2-3 inches from Friday night to Sunday eve...

We were all hoping for rain, but Dartmoor never lets me down. I reckon we had 2-3 inches from Friday night to Sunday evening!
So finally those rock solid feet were able to be tidied up 🎉
What a satisfying weekend of scraping away chalky sole and peeling away old frog.

This is how quiet it is here.

An anxious ex racer, that still won't tolerate being turned out in a field with her companion, will happily take herself off to the far part of the track with the herd still being in and around the barn well out of sight and sound.

She's not the first to find track life here, calms many of her anxieties. Knowing she has the choice has made a world of difference to Ana.

I have not been sharing much recently as this summer has been incredibly busy, particularly since little Ares arrived with very contracted tendons which are all fixed now. But my sheep came down with Blue Tongue about 2-3 weeks ago, needing round the clock care.
As things slowly get back to normal, I will try to post ideas more often and show how things are done here again.
