🚨 Another unsafe installation put right.

This solid oak fireplace mantel came away from the wall because it had originally been fixed with just two small brackets and adhesive.

It might have looked secure, but it wasn’t.

We removed the failed installation and reinstalled the existing oak mantel using concealed steel fixings into the solid brickwork, creating a far stronger fixing while keeping the clean floating appearance.

This is why we always say the quality of the fixings matters just as much as the finish. Done properly, you shouldn’t have to worry about it again.

Bathroom reseal completed with full silicone removal and fresh sanitary sealant.

Bathroom resealing is all about preparation. New silicone should not be applied over old, failed or mouldy sealant — the old material needs to be properly removed first.

For this type of bath or shower reseal, Brixmont Property Services carefully cuts out the old silicone, removes loose or failed sealant, cleans the joint thoroughly, wipes the area down with isopropyl alcohol, and allows it to dry before applying fresh sanitary-grade silicone.

The new silicone is then applied evenly and tooled neatly to create a clean, smooth and watertight finish.

A proper bathroom reseal does more than make the bath or shower look cleaner. It helps reduce the risk of water getting behind the seal, mould build-up and damage to the surrounding surfaces.

Back steps rebuilt this week as part of ongoing maintenance works for a returning client.

The original installation had no proper base — slabs were sitting on loose infill which caused movement and cracking over time.

We removed everything, rebuilt the base properly and installed new slabs on a full mortar bed with consistent alignment and overhang.
