I grew up in Tamworth, a small country town where life was simple. We lived on acreage, and farming was a part of everyday life. Some of my earliest memories are of being outdoors, surrounded by open land. One of those memories is a little more dramatic than the rest—I was walking our dog while riding my quad bike when, in a split second, everything went wrong. The dog pulled too hard, the bike tipped, and I found myself in a tangled mess on the ground. It was one of those childhood moments that felt huge at the time but became a funny story later.
As much as I loved that life, my mum wanted more for us. She knew the opportunities were limited in a small town, so she made the brave decision to move us to Sydney. At the time, it felt like a massive change especially being away from nan and pop. Everything was bigger, faster, and so different from what I had known. But it was the best decision we ever made.
I still remember standing in our new home, looking out the window, and feeling this rush of excitement. For the first time, I understood what it meant to truly feel at home. It wasn’t just about the space itself—it was about the possibilities it held, the future we were about to build.
That experience shaped me. It taught me that home isn’t just a physical place; it’s a feeling. It’s the warmth of laughter filling a room, the memories that turn four walls into something meaningful, and the sense of belonging that makes life richer.
Now, every time I help someone find their home, I think about that moment from my own life. I want others to feel that same sense of possibility and belonging. Because at the end of the day, a home isn’t just where you live—it’s where your story begins.
