Additional onshore wind farm projects are seen by many (including the UK Government) as a means of increasing the amount of renewable electricity generated across the UK and helping the push to achieve Net Zero.

Despite Labour lifting England’s de facto ban on onshore wind farm projects, according to the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, no planning applications for large-scale onshore wind farm projects have been submitted.

Only 14 small single-turbine planning applications (9MW in total) have been submitted, while 12 larger wind farm projects (600MW in total) remain in pre-application stages.

The UK Government aims to nearly double UK onshore wind capacity to 27–29GW by 2030, but most growth is expected in Scotland and Wales, where 528 projects (17.6GW in total) are already in the pipeline.

Developers have highlighted that it takes 2-5 years to prepare large scale wind farm planning applications. The prolonged ‘freeze’/preference for offshore wind farms under the Conservatives, has slowed momentum of large scale wind farms in England. Officials stress progress will take time, while industry figures note that the large-scale onshore wind farm projects in England are restarting from a standing start.

If you are a Landowner in any part of the UK and would like to explore whether there is scope for a wind farm on your land (and a annual rent is paid to you by a wind farm developer), list it on our Renewables Connect Platform for free, to connect with active and reputable Renewable Developers.

With the upcoming Grid Reform Gate 2 Date at the end of this month, unfortunately the legals for a number of renewable projects will not get over the line by this date. This combined with the reprioritisation of renewable projects in the grid queue, we are expecting a number of projects will be dropped or developers will look to offload projects to other developers.

If you are a landowner and a renewable project is dropped on your land and you are looking for another renewable developer, list your land on our Renewables Connect Platform.

If your are a developer and you are looking to dispose of a project, list it on our Renewables Connect Platform.

To list land or projects go to our website.

The renewable energy industry has changed, evolved, and progressed more so than most industries over the last 20 years. Yet whilst the renewable energy technology has advanced considerably, the site finding/origination process remains broadly the same – some site referencing and knocking on doors or sending landowners letters/emails.

This process is disjointed, inefficient and outdated. This combined with landowners getting fed up with either being overlooked or harassed, is what led us to set up our Renewables Connect Platform - which enables landowners and their agents looking to explore renewable energy opportunities to list land (free of charge) and developers/subscribers to our Platform to search for sites.

To list your land or search for sites, go to our website for more details.

Scorcher of a day at the Highland Show last week! Great to meet so many Renewables Connect Platform users, Keir + Co clients, friends and fellow professionals.

Thanks for the various reception invites and generous hospitality.

Also a pleasure to have a catch up with Tom Porter of AgriAudit - a Platform where you can manage all of your farm audits in one place. Great to see other people set up a Platform to streamline another disjointed and outdated process.

Great morning a couple weeks ago with Eden Legal and some of the Azets Perth Team providing an overview of our Renewables Connect Platform and discussing challenges farmers & country estate owners are currently facing and potential renewable energy income opportunities.

Thank you Anneli and Craig (in picture below!) for hosting us.

Great to see an article on our Renewables Connect Platform appearing in the Scottish Farmer! Interestingly, since the article was originally written, another 5,000 hectares of listings have been added to our Platform. Thank you Scottish Farmer for doing an article on our Platform.

Tough day? Whether you are growing crops or rearing livestock, farming is a very active way to generate income, which has been made more challenging over the last year by the changes to tax, global trade and rising costs.

Have you thought about an income that quietly generates while you get on with the day job?

Renewable energy projects can offer a steady, passive income alongside your farming operations and can help provide some welcome financial stability. Solar panels, wind turbines and battery storage can be working away while you are.

If you're curious about what opportunities might work on your land and would like to connect with trusted renewable energy developers, you can list for free on the Renewables Connect Platform. It takes less than 15 minutes to list your land and there's no obligation.

It could be a simple step toward something that supports your farm for years to come.

We launched our Renewables Connect Platform 1 year ago today. What a year it has been!

Our Platform has been a game changer and market disrupter in the renewable energy site & project sourcing arena. It has revolutionised and streamlined the way in which land and projects are promoted by landowners and sought by renewable developers. It has not been easy and we have had to deal with multiple challenges which come with creating a new concept and tech.

Our Platform now has Listings throughout the UK, including from as far north as Shetland and as far south as Cornwall. There has also been a number of connections between landowners and developers.

As the renewable energy industry continues to evolve and growth, we are excited about the year ahead.
