This might be the most expensive mistake people make with their kitchen.

This kitchen was only a year old.

This kitchen wasn’t old.
It wasn’t damaged.
It didn’t need replacing.

The customer simply felt the original colour was too dark and no longer suited the room.

A professional colour change to Farrow & Ball Ammonite completely transformed the space, making it feel brighter, lighter and more in keeping with the look they wanted.

Not every kitchen transformation has to be dramatic.

This kitchen was around 40 years old, and the customer wasn’t looking for a complete change. They simply wanted to break up the wood tones and introduce a little more contrast while keeping the character of the kitchen intact.

The doors and drawer fronts were professionally spray finished in Farrow & Ball Duster, creating a softer, brighter look that works beautifully alongside the existing timber framework.

Sometimes it’s the subtle changes that make the biggest difference.

A great example of how a kitchen can be refreshed without replacing it, and without losing what made it special in the first place.

This is why preparation matters. 👇

Before this kitchen could be spray finished, every section of vinyl wrap had to be completely removed — not just from the doors, but from the end panels and trims too.

It’s the part most people never see, but it’s one of the most important stages of the entire process.

If failing vinyl is left in place and simply painted over, the problem is still there underneath. Properly stripping it back creates a stable surface that allows the new coating system to bond correctly and perform long term.

Once fully prepared, this kitchen in Gunthorpe, Peterborough was professionally spray finished in Little Greene Boringdon Green at 15% sheen using our water-based coating system.

A lot of work goes into achieving a finish like this. The colour gets the attention, but the preparation is what makes it last.

This is why we DON’T spray over failing vinyl 👀

If vinyl is already lifting, bubbling, or breaking down, spraying directly over it only hides the problem temporarily — it doesn’t fix it.

As the vinyl continues to fail underneath, the new finish will eventually crack, peel, or delaminate too.

Every door on this kitchen had to be completely stripped before we could even think about spraying it.

It’s the slower route…
but it’s also the right one.

By removing the failing vinyl first, we’re able to create a stable surface that allows the new coating to properly bond and last long term.

Proper preparation is what separates a finish that simply looks good… from one designed to last.

Once fully prepared, the kitchen was professionally spray finished in Little Greene “Boringdon Green” at 15% sheen — completely transforming the space without replacing the kitchen itself.

Most people only ever see the final colour.
The preparation is the part that really makes the difference.

Not every kitchen transformation requires a full colour change.

This kitchen in Eastrea, Cambridgeshire already had a great modern layout and the existing grey lower units still worked beautifully with the oak worktops and flooring. The customer simply wanted to break the kitchen up slightly and introduce more contrast and light into the space.

We professionally resprayed the upper doors in Little Greene Loft White at 15% sheen, helping to brighten the room while still keeping the darker lower units for balance and depth.

Sometimes smaller, more thoughtful changes can completely alter how a kitchen feels without needing to respray every surface.

This kitchen in Lyddington is a good example of how even a subtle colour change can completely modernise a space.

Originally finished in a dated beige tone, the kitchen itself was still solid and well laid out — it simply needed updating visually.

We professionally resprayed the existing cabinetry in Farrow & Ball Ammonite at 15% sheen, creating a much cleaner, brighter and more contemporary feel while retaining the original kitchen and white quartz worktops.

A great example of how kitchen respraying can transform a space without the disruption and waste of a full replacement.

This kitchen in Lyddington, Rutland was professionally resprayed in Farrow & Ball Ammonite, giving the space a much cleaner and more contemporary feel without replacing the existing kitchen.

Originally finished in a dated beige colour, the new Ammonite tone works beautifully with the white quartz worktops, stainless appliances and natural light throughout the room.

One thing I’ve learned from respraying kitchens over the years is that most decisions shouldn’t start with colour.

The first thing to look at is whether the kitchen itself is worth keeping — are the units solid, doors well made, and the layout still working for how you use the space?

If the answer is yes, updating the finish can be a sensible option to consider before jumping straight to replacement.

A good respray isn’t about hiding problems — it relies on proper preparation, stable units, and the right materials to last.

Replacement absolutely has its place, but it’s not always the only route to a kitchen that feels updated.
