🏠✨ Project Spotlight: Solving Damp Issues in a Historic Property ✨🏠

We were recently contacted by a local letting agency to help tackle severe damp issues in a charming early 1900s property. The landlord, along with their neighbour, was dealing with significant damp ingress, and we were up for the challenge!

🔍 Upon inspection, we discovered that the neglected chimneys were a major contributor to the damp problems. With little maintenance over the years, they were a key factor in allowing water into the property.

🏡 Additionally, we found that the rear extension's old render had become highly penetrable, worsening the situation on the landlord’s side.

💡 To resolve this, we installed an advanced acrylic thin coat render system using Dryfit's ACR 100—an Anti Crack Render system designed to not only protect but enhance the property. This innovative solution has transformed the look of the building and, most importantly, stopped the damage in its tracks!

We’re proud to have delivered a modern, effective finish while ensuring this stunning historic property can stand strong for years to come. 💪

🔧 Project Spotlight: Protecting and Enhancing Our Client's Home 🏠
We were recently contacted by a client facing significant issues with their home. Horizontal cracks had developed across all elevations of their property, causing concern and affecting the overall appearance. After multiple investigations, it was determined that the problem stemmed from faulty wall ties used during the property's construction and a breached cavity caused by Cavity Wall Insulation installed by previous owners.
Our team was committed to providing a cost-effective solution to prevent further damage and ensure the existing cracks were properly addressed. We installed an advanced Anti-Crack Render (ACR) 100 system, supplied by The Fell Partnership Ltd and manufactured by Dryvit Systems. This system involved applying reinforcement across all elevations, followed by a coloured acrylic topcoat chosen by our client, giving their home a refreshed and protected exterior.
We’re proud of the results and grateful for the trust our client placed in us to safeguard their property. 🛠️

🔨 Project Spotlight: Collaboration with PJD Construction LTD 🔨
We're excited to share a recent project we completed in collaboration with our trusted partners at PJD Construction Ltd!
For this stunning extension, PJD Construction brought the client's vision to life by expanding the kitchen area and installing beautiful bi-folding doors. These doors allow for an open, seamless transition between the kitchen and the garden—a true sun trap that’s perfect for enjoying the outdoors.
Our team was brought in to ensure the interior and exterior finishes matched the high standards of this impressive build. Internally, we handled all traditional plastering, getting the space ready for the secondary fixtures that complete the room. Externally, we took on the challenge of rendering the new extension. Using a thin-coat render system over cement boards, we applied a colored render with a Tyrolean gun to ensure the new addition harmonized perfectly with the existing property.

🌟 Project Spotlight: A Garden Transformation for Our Valued Client! 🌟

We were recently contacted by a client who was facing challenges with their garden setup, particularly with accessing their hot tub. The existing communal area was built on old decking that had begun to rot, making it unsafe and unappealing for social gatherings.

Taking our client's vision to heart, we transformed their outdoor space by installing a brand-new patio using natural grey Indian sandstone slabs. This not only provides a more sturdy and durable surface but also adds a touch of elegance to the garden. 🌿✨

To ensure longevity and handle the demands of the hot tub, we installed a new drainage system with Aco-drains. These drains will efficiently manage any overflow from the hot tub and heavy rainfall, especially as we head into the winter months. 🌧️

The finishing touch was completed with Easygrout in the Basalt option, which was carefully brushed and pointed, ensuring that the patio will withstand the elements for years to come. 💪

🌟Restoring Lawsons in Ivybridge 🌟

We were recently contacted by Lawsons, a beloved local shop in Ivybridge, to address a challenging issue they had been facing: severe damp ingress on the first floor and blown render on the ground floor of their premises.

🛠️ The Issue:
After a thorough investigation, we identified the source of the damp—a compromised gully on one of the roofs at the rear of the property. The damaged gully, made from burnt down felt, was allowing water to seep through, eventually making its way through the solid walls and exiting at ground level.

🔧 Our Solution:
We tackled this problem head-on by removing all the damp-damaged areas both internally and externally. The internal wall was carefully repaired using traditional render and finished with Thistle Multi Finish, leaving it ready for further decorative works by the client.

Externally, we repaired the damaged wall by priming the masonry backing and applying traditional render in gradual coats. This process ensured the repairs were seamlessly integrated with the existing finished level of the wall.

We're proud of the work our team carried out to restore the integrity and appearance of Lawsons. It’s always rewarding to help local businesses maintain their premises in top condition! 🙌

🏡 Project Highlight: Restoring a Historic Cottage to Its Former Glory! 🛠️

We're excited to share a recent project where we had the privilege of working on a beautiful late 1800s cottage. The gable end of the property was in need of some serious attention due to damp issues, so our team stepped in to restore it to its original charm.

🔨 What We Did:

Removed Old Render: We carefully removed the old blown render that was trapping moisture and causing damp ingress issues for the client.
Exposed Stonework: Beneath the render, we revealed the stunning original stonework of the gable end.
Repointing: Using bagged ready-mixed coarse pointing mortar supplied by the Cornish Lime Company, we meticulously repointed the stonework.
Enhanced Breathability: By removing the non-breathable render and repointing with lime mortar, the gable is now fully weatherproof and capable of breathing, protecting the cottage from future damp issues.
Our client can now rest easy, knowing their home is not only weatherproof but also restored to reflect its historic character. 🏰

We’re proud to have brought this beautiful piece of history back to life and left our customer with peace of mind.

🚧 Project Spotlight: Transforming a Rear Outbuilding into a Functional Extension! 🚧

We're thrilled to share one of our latest projects, where we helped a customer reclaim and transform an unusable outbuilding at the rear of their property into a brand-new, functional extension! 🙌

The existing structure was in poor condition and had been that way since the customer purchased the property. They reached out to us for assistance, and we're proud of the result.

✨ Here’s what we did:

Demolition: We carefully demolished the old, dilapidated outbuilding.
Retaining Wall: Constructed a sturdy retaining wall to stabilise the area and created steps to provide a clear access route in to the garden.
Garden Enhancement: Crushed and reused the old rubble to raise the rear garden level.
New Extension: Built an extended, modern extension that now includes a sealed inspection pit.
Thermal Render Finish: Applied a thermal render system with a color of the customer’s choice, enhancing the exterior's appearance and efficiency.
Interior Layout: Relocated the toilet to create a spacious and functional utility room.
We're excited to return in the coming months to complete the remaining landscaping and finalize the retaining wall to perfectly match the new extension! 🌿

We would like to thank Clothing Your Way Ltd for the updated work force uniform. The Team are going to be looking great in their new Jumpers, T-shirts, Caps and Beanies.

We’d just like to take the time to thank Ryan and the team at Greenlight Safety and Training for all their assistance they have provided Liam Vinecombe on his time completing his Level 2.

We are extremely proud on how far Liam has come since he started when he left school 2 years ago.

It has been a pleasure having Liam apart of the team and we look forward to the future he is going to bring being apart of SIL Plastering Projects.

Here are a couple pictures of a project we completed leading up to the Christmas Break and also another that was completed in the first week back since we have now started the New Year. ��Both jobs located within the South Brent area of Devon, completed for two separate clients.

Last weeks job is due to be completed this week, once all secondary fixtures have been finished by CPS Heating & Plumbing

Starting the third week of January, we are returning back to a new build site for PJD Construction Ltd to complete their second plot that is now ready for all internal plastering to be complete.
