We’re proud to announce that Plymouth Loft Conversion Specialists Ltd has been accepted by Pinnacle of All Trades.

For us, this isn’t just about being listed — it’s recognition of the standards we try to bring to every single job. From qualifications and insurance through to workmanship and customer care, it’s nice to know the effort that goes in behind the scenes is being recognised.

Matt and Steve are highly experienced, time-served joiners who clearly take a lot of pride in what they do. They’re reliable, hardworking and the quality of their work speaks for itself.

We’ve worked alongside them and they’re the sort of people who always go the extra mile to help and keep standards high throughout a project. They’ve even been involved with DIY SOS, which gives you a good idea of the level of professionalism and care they bring to their work.

Good workmanship and good people are hard to find, and Plymouth Joinery ltd are definitely both.

Meet Terry Senior — the Grandmaster of Lofts 👌

At 72 years old, Terry still comes in and does what he’s always done best. In this video he’s organising the screw box, and to some people that might not seem like a big job, but anyone who works in construction knows the little things matter.

Terry likes things neat, tidy and in the right place. He’s always believed if you look after the small things, the big things look after themselves. With over 40 years of loft conversion experience behind him, there aren’t many situations he hasn’t seen.

Experience isn’t just about knowing how to build — it’s about having pride in your work, staying organised and keeping standards high every single day

Windows and doors can completely change the feel of a loft conversion, and one of the questions we get asked a lot is: “What should we go for?”

The honest answer is… it’s completely down to the customer and how they want to use the space.

Some people prefer uPVC windows for practicality and value, others love the modern look of aluminium, while French doors, bi-folding doors, Juliet balconies and larger feature windows can really open up a room and bring in plenty of natural light.

There isn’t really a right or wrong answer. Some customers want a clean and simple look, while others want to create more of a “wow factor”. Our job is simply to help guide people through the decision process, explain the options, and help create a space that works for them and their home.

At the end of the day, every loft is different and every customer is different too 👍

Another local business we'd like to recommend is DC Projects & maintenance 👍

We work alongside a lot of trades and good people make a huge difference to how smoothly projects run. Reliable, hardworking and taking pride in the end result goes a long way in this industry.

It’s always good working with people who care about the finer details and approach every project with the same mindset we do — do it properly, keep standards high and leave the customer happy.

Supporting good local businesses is important, and it’s always nice to give credit where it’s due.

STEEL, STEEL, STEEL! 💪

This was our “super loft” job and it had the most steel we’ve ever installed on a loft conversion.

From smaller steel lintels right up to a full 6 metre floor beam sitting at the bottom of the stack, every piece has a purpose and every piece is calculated and designed by structural engineer drawings.

Of course, we had the loft grandmaster Terry Senior at the bottom organising everything! 👌

People often don’t realise what goes on behind the scenes before a loft starts looking like a room. Moving and installing steel beams takes planning, teamwork and experience — especially when access is tight and every beam needs to end up in exactly the right place.

The finished plasterboard and decorations always get the attention, but this is the hidden work that makes a loft strong, solid and built to last.

A happy job is a tidy job.
