We popped round to see the Welchs last week, and what they told us is exactly why choosing to renovate your conservatory is one of the best decisions you can make for your home.

When we first met them, they were thinking about moving.

They’d been dreaming about getting away for a couple of years. Somewhere by the coast, they told us. Because as gorgeous as their cottage was in Finchampstead, they’d slowly fallen out of love with it.

Their glass roof conservatory was beginning to blow and they hadn’t used the space in 15 years. They tried to make the most of it but it just ended up being a room to dump and store things.

At first, they thought about repairing it. But the company who originally built it didn’t want to know. So they left it as it was.

That’s when we came into the picture.

Together, we decided not to just patch it up, but to reimagine the space completely. A full roof renovation, new windows, and proper insulation to make it a room they could finally use all year round.

Then something rather lovely happened.

They fell back in love with their home.

“It’s not just been a repair job,” Mr Welch told us. “It’s actually made a difference to how we live.”

Now their conservatory feels like a part of their home. It’s a stunning, bright and airy dining room where they can host family and friends for dinner, rest, relax and soak in their beautiful garden view.

This week is a bittersweet one, because we say farewell to someone who’s been with us since the very beginning. John.

He’s been so much more than our lead window fitter. He’s been a mentor, a champion of what we stand for, and more importantly, a friend for life. Now he’s about to embark on a soulful adventure in India and beyond.

Every business has a first customer.

For us, it wasn’t just another job.

It was someone putting their trust in a new business, giving us an opportunity to prove ourselves, and helping us take the first step towards where we are today.

Looking back, we’ve learned a lot since then.

Our systems have improved.
Our team has grown.
Our branding has evolved.

But the things that mattered on day one still matter now.

Doing what we say we’re going to do.
Treating people’s homes with care.
And making sure every customer feels looked after from start to finish.

Three years and 150 conservatories later, we’re still incredibly grateful for the people who trusted us in those early days.
