Our work is based in Upper Swaledale, Yorkshire Dales, UK. Our projects, events and activities help to preserve and explain this beautiful part of the world, make it accessible to everyone and support our community of residents and visitors. From our cluster of Grade II listed buildings in Keld village we operate a holiday cottage business (all profits reinvested in our work), the Countryside & Heritage Centre, which explains and interprets our locality, an events programme and a tranquil well-being garden. Our newly restored and fully accessible events and activity space is now taking bookings for family reunions, Bridge weekends, training days and the like. Visit our website for more details.

We’re delighted that John Waggett is once again joining us for an informal afternoon of stories, memories and local life in the Dale. Having grown up and worked in Swaledale all his life, John has plenty of tales to tell. He’ll be chatting about how farming traditions have changed over the decades, as well as treating us to some old poems in his wonderfully strong Swardle dialect!

There’ll be plenty of opportunity for questions and a bit of a natter. Refreshments will be available afterwards.

A lovely day was had by all at yesterday's Landscape Felting Workshop. Our highly talented instructor, Louise Curnin, soon had everyone gaining in confidence and putting together their own felted Swaledale landscapes. The colours and designs were all individual and really reflected the stunning local scenery which participants can see through the Heritage Centre windows. Conversation flowed, new friendships were made and much cake was eaten! The end results were fabulous and everyone went home happy with their creations. Many thanks to Suzanne for her hosting and cakes!
