Seven reviews. Seven lovely sets of guests. And now a little Guest Favourite badge! 🩷

No.2 The Folly has only been welcoming guests for a couple of months, including visitors from overseas, so this feels pretty special.

Thank you to everyone who has chosen our tiny corner of Sedbergh for their time away. I never take that choice for granted.

Ever had a disastrous holiday stay?

I have 🙈

I’ve arrived somewhere so dirty that I covered the sofa with a spare sheet before I’d let my children sit on it.

I’ve arrived somewhere and had to leave because it was so unclean.

And, perhaps my favourite, I once arrived at our holiday accommodation to find the cleaner hadn’t quite finished and asked my friend and I if we could help by finishing the washing! I can laugh about it 20 years later…😂

Those experiences stayed with me.

When I created No.2 The Folly, I knew exactly how I wanted people to feel when they walked through the door.

Because choosing somewhere to stay isn’t a small thing. You’re trusting someone with your precious time away, and spending your hard-earned money to be there.

I never want to take that for granted.

I want you to open the door and feel really, really pleased that you chose us.

Every little detail at No.2 has been chosen with that in mind.

So much to have a good feeling about… ✨

Morning coffee on Main Street. A run through the Dales. Bikes, hikes, little independent shops and a gorgeous little place to come home to.

Yorkshire Dales or Lake District? Why choose? ⛰️💗

One of the things we love about Sedbergh is having both incredible landscapes on the doorstep.

Yesterday took us west to the beautiful Newlands Valley for a day on the fells, big Lake District views, sheep (of course!), followed by fish & chips and an evening wander through Keswick.

We even saw a barn owl 🦉 fly in and out of its barn. 🥹

All this less than an hour from the pink door at No.2 The Folly.

Stay in the Yorkshire Dales. Play in the Lakes. Have the best of both. 💗

A little Sedbergh recommendation from us… 🩷

Went for a look around the shops and took a little bag of supplies home from the fab local butcher because they looked far too good to leave behind! 😋

The verdict from husband and son?

Loved it all and the burgers were the BEST burgers they’ve ever had. 🙌

One of the things we love about Sedbergh is having brilliant independent shops right on the doorstep! The perfect spot for picking up something delicious and heading back to No.2 for a cosy night in.

Another one for the what to do while you’re staying list. 🩷

A little departure from our usual No.2 The Folly posts… but last night was magical! 🌙

We decided to walk up Winder from Sedbergh to watch the eclipse, and ended up joining a little gathering of people who’d had exactly the same idea!

There was something very special about standing together on the fell, watching the sky change above the Howgills, with views over the Lake District!

The sweetest part of the story is that a complete stranger shared her eclipse glasses with those around her who didn’t have any, including us, so that everyone could experience it! What a gorgeous thing to do. 🥹
