As part of the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020, landlords in England are required to obtain an electrical installation condition report (EICR) for their properties. The legislation came into force on 1st June 2020 and applies to any new tenancy created after that date from 1st July 2020. For existing tenancies that were granted before the 1st June 2020, they must have an EICR carried out by the 1st April 2021.
