Regional Winner in the LABC Building Excellence Regional Awards 2026 - Best Residential and Small Commercial Designer !!

Starting our own business, during a Covid pandemic, was no mean feat, and as every small business owner knows, it certainly comes with a certain amount of stress, worry, long hours and sleepless nights.

In July 2020 Southwold Building and Design Consultancy Ltd was born, and to date, 6-years later we have not looked back. This has definitely been one of the biggest and best decisions we have made. Becoming Directors of our own business has given us the freedom to do what we both love doing, whilst being able to put our combined expertise, skills and knowledge to the best use.

We are super proud and pleased to have been selected as Regional Winner in the LABC Building Excellence Regional Awards 2026 - Best Residential and Small Commercial Designer.

It goes without saying, that our success in achieving this Award, goes to everyone who has helped to guide us through our journey, supported us and worked alongside us to achieve what we initially set out to do, and of course everyone has put their projects in our hands.

This really has been the best start to our week.

Loft conversions are an excellent and cost effective way of extending a property where outside space may be limited.
It allows the creation of an additional space whilst having minimal impact on the appearance of the existing property.

As part of our consultancy services, we can investigate different options for the layout including the placement of stairs, dormers, additional windows and fire escape requirements. We can also organise and liaise with our Structural Engineer to assist with the design of the existing supporting structure.

SECURING PLANNING PERMISSION IN A CONSERVATION AREA, JUST ONE OF OUR EXPERT SERVICES .....

Another week begins and another one of our projects gets the green light to commence!

It was a pleasure to be asked to assist with improvement scheme required for a key cultural venue in a popular Suffolk seaside resort. The development, is much needed, and will help to enhance the appearance of a heritage asset within the Conservation Area.

The building is an historic community focused venue located on the seafront in a well-known and popular seaside town. It has served for over a Century as a hub for concerts, theatre and events, and we have to say that we were so pleased to have been asked to quote for and be involved in this project, and gaining planning approval.
