Last job of 2025 decorating a lively old cottage but keeping its character. So many people buy these lovely old vottages and rip the soul out of them and try to create a new feel interior, you might as well buy a non descript new build .
Just a few pictures to show how you can brighten these cottages up without gutting them.

Beware of slippery wood decking even if pressure washed. Just layed a non slip Matt on the deck for safety. Started looking online for the cost of deck matting why was a ridiculous £250/ 1 1/2 metres x 1metre. Found this one on Amazon for £70 and to avoid the sunlight making it brittle I will remove it in the summer and put down again in autumn. Customer delighted.

Latest job creating a new fence by resetting the foundations and then creating a fence from 6x1 timber. A top cap and and reinforcing the sides left to go plus a custom fence around the gate. Then it’s back to painting for a while before the possible rebuild of a raised decking. I’ve also included a couple of pictures showing the finished ramp that I started in my last post.

Had a challenge this week. I had to make a wheel chair ramp out of scaffolding. The wheelchair is very heavy so it had to be substantial, and we put wheels in the ramp for ease of movement should the ramp need to be taken away for any reason. Next job putting
On nonslip checker plate laminated with ply and some hand rails will post as I go along.

Latest job turned into a full decking replacement due to the timber being placed directly into concrete with little drainage. We managed to remove all the screws and remove the artificial deck without damage.
Here are some pictures so far.

Just finished a lovely old Fishermens cottage which like all old houses had its challenges. I had to let in wood at the botomn ov the porch door post and some of the skirting where there had been a water leek. The porch was a disaster zone after having a firm replacing a couple of windows and then trying to strip off bits of paint. The customer had asked for an easy touch-up on the wood if necessary as the house was holiday let so the areas that had been glossed needed a hard key plus two coats of the zinnser bullseye, followed by undercoating and painting with Johnstones hard wearing aqua guard. Here are a few pictures to show the end results, the paint was all a flat Matt.
