Xmas lights in June, yes you read that correctly, Xmas lights being installed in June.

As crazy as that may sound, the customer actually contacted me back in December last year and wanted them installed in time for Xmas.

The lights were the really good LED ones from GOVEE that come with a sticky pad on the back of each fitting but unfortunately they are extremely difficult to install in cold temperatures as the sticky pads just won’t adhere to anything.

The customer made the decision to leave them for the time being and get them fitted in better temperatures so here we are.

You may think it’s a bit over the top to have a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) brought in just to fit some Xmas lights but when the customer looks after patients that have suffered neurological injuries it’s blatantly obvious that he wanted to mitigate any risks of falling from height and made the most sensible decision 👏🏻👏🏻

The customer also looked after me with great coffee and biscuits and it was a pleasure to help them on their job. They are just desperate for some dark nights now to enjoy their new LED lights 😎

Today’s job was a flue liner install with Ash and Mark from Ignite Fires & Fireplaces and wow, it was a big one. The liner itself was a massive 16m long to ensure it reached from the top of the chimney stack all the way down to the fireplace inside 😳

The machine got Ash safely up to the top of the chimney stack but his biceps had a decent workout feeding all 16m of stainless steel flue liner down, he looked like The Hulk when he came back down 💪🏼 😂

A very mixed bag this week starting off with some sign replacement work with Pica Creative Ltd.

They were removing the old signs and installing the new ones at Vue Cinema car park in Newcastle under Lyme.

Old signage removed and some nice sparkling new graphics with illuminated direction arrows and wording installed. Always great to work with Rob, Elliot and Jack, too job as always guys 👏🏻👏🏻

Next stop was some tree reduction in Longton with Mike from Keele Gardening & Tree Surgery
A large tree next to a telegraph pole that was getting out of control and growing through the wires.

Mike was safely lifted into position and took care of business cutting the branches back and reducing the tree down to a sensible height 👍🏼

A repeat visit to the Kiln View estate in Hanley where a local resident had seen me previously working with a local cleaning company and recognised the value of hiring an operated platform.

He wanted to gain access to a third storey flat roof and carry out some sealing work to prevent any further leaks and whilst he was up there, he cleaned out his gutters and even installed a CCTV camera 👏🏻👏🏻

Finishing off the week with the installation of some bird cowls for a customer in Northwood. She had a bird enter her chimney pot recently which caused considerable distress and problems.

Three nice, new, bird cowls supplied and fitted to the chimney pots means that air flow will be maintained in the chimney stack while any unwanted pests are kept out. Another happy customer ☺️

A couple of days off to enjoy the sunshine we have been promised before cracking on again with an early start Sunday morning in Knutsford.

Sunday spent working in the lovely Uttoxeter on a large commercial gutter job.

Several months ago I was asked to clear out the gutters on the health centre in Uttoxeter. They had the usual tell tale signs of some dripping gutters and some trees growing around the hoppers at very high level.

Sadly as the building is so high, we needed to wait for perfect conditions in order to be able to carry out the work safely. The work also needed to be completed on a Sunday to minimise any disruption to patients and staff using the building.

We spied the opportunity and pencilled it on for today. Despite a blustery start that threatened to stop the job before it even started, the wind eventually died down and it actually turned out to be a lovely day 😎

Gutters all cleared out, hoppers checked, trees and moss removed at 4 and 5 storeys high and even a little spray of w**d killer applied to prevent any regrowth. All in all a cracking day in the sunshine and one very happy customer 😇

Early start this morning in Nantwich 😴 working with Hughes Roofing.

Ryan needed safe access to clear out the gutters on these 3 storey buildings that had become overgrown with w**ds and grass.

We had to get set up and get the job done in super quick time before the shops opened so as to minimise any disruption to anyone.

The perfect job for a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) or cherry picker as they are more affectionately known 🍒

A bit of 3 storey roof cleaning today with Suttons Exterior Cleaning 😎

Dylan needed safe access to the roof of this 3 storey property in Hanley to carry out his roof scrape and biocide treatment.

Quick set up, roof scraped, gutters cleared of all moss and debris and a biocide treatment applied - job done 👍🏼

I think you’ll agree from the photos that a cracking finish was obtained from this treatment and I’m sure the customer is over the moon 👏🏻
