IMPORTANT NEWS FOR PRIVATE LANDLORDS
Government announces rollout of the Register your Rental Property' service.

The Government has confirmed that the new Landlord Register will commence on 15 December 2026, starting in the West Midlands and then rolling out in phases across the rest of England.

This service will be compulsory for all private sector landlords under phase two of the Renters' Rights Act.

Key details you need to know:
• Registration opens: 15 December 2026.
• The West Midlands will be the first region to take part, with a phased rollout across the rest of England.
• Landlords with relevant private rented properties will be required to register.
• The registration fee will be £65 per property, per year.
• West Midlands landlords must register by 14 March 2027.

• The new register is part of the Renters' Rights Act 2025 reforms and will help councils identify and tackle non-compliance, providing greater transparency in the private rented sector.
