Friday morning and at North Cadboll House it is dry and cloudy after overnight rain. The temperature has risen to 11C so quite pleasant. Rosie was on the west lawn when I left the courtyard and she headed for the barley field. We didn't see her again.

Thursday morning has a real autumnal feel to it at North Cadboll House. It was dry with blue sky when Muffty and I went out for our walk and as the temperature was only 3C, there was a touch of frost both in the air and on the grass. An hour later and it is cloudy. Rosie was in the avenue when we reached that point in our walk and she just dawdled over to the fence and vaulted it to rejoin the twins who were just on the other side in the barley field. Six other roe deer were further up the barley field so I may have a mini-herd this winter like two years ago.

My gardening plans for Tuesday afternoon came to nothing as the early morning sunshine was replace mid-morning by heavy rain.

Overnight we had further heavy rain but Wednesday morning at North Cadboll House began dry, overcast and a reasonable 11C. As I walked out the orchard, I spotted the other roe deer, her fawn and one of Rosie's fawns in the barley field. Then Rosie appeared out of the avenue and bounded over the fence to join them. She was followed by the other fawn but when it spotted Muffty and me, it ran off towards the lawn. I am hoping as Muffty and I head away in another direction it will have doubled back and rejoined its mother and sibling in the barley field. I suspect I am going to have them around the house for the remainder of the autumn and through the winter.

Tuesday morning at North Cadboll House has begun dry, bright and sunny with blue sky. It must have been quite cold overnight because the windows are covered in condensation outside but it felt mild when Muffty and I went out. Rosie was chewing on leaves at the cox's apple tree in the front garden when we approached.

Monday morning and it is dreich start to the week at North Cadboll House. It is grey, overcast and torrential rain is pouring down. Rosie was chewing on silver birch tree leaves when Muffty and I came out of the paddock on to the east lawn. She bolted off over the fence into the adjacent thicket before we got close to her. At 8C it is much cooler this morning even with the thick cloud cover.

Sunday morning at North Cadboll House has begun dry, bright and blustery so about to hang out a hand washing to get it as dry as possible. It is registering 12C but feels cooler in the strong breeze.

Saturday morning at North Cadboll House has begun dry with blue sky and so breezy it doesn't feel anything like 13C. I just hope it remains dry until mid afternoon for everyone at the Tain Street Sale in the Rose Garden from 10 until 2.

Friday morning at North Cadboll House has begun dry, overcast and fairly blustery meaning it feels much cooler than 12C. Rosie was in the paddock when Muffty and I rounded the corner from the driveway. She took off for the orchard and bounded the fence into the barley field. I suspect Muffty running into the paddock was what spooked her. Normally he walks in slowly sniffing virtually every blade of grass :)

Wednesday developed into a warm and sunny afternoon so I spent much of it in the gardens.

Thursday morning at North Cadboll House has begun dry, bright with a mix of blue sky and fluffy white clouds and feeling fresh at 11C. Pond still slightly overflowing its banks following Tuesday's torrential rain.

Tuesday was a really foul day at North Cadboll House with heavy rain showers throughout most of the day. On Monday evening my pond was dry. This morning it is overflowing its banks!

Wednesday morning is brighter, dry and a little cooler at 10C. Rosie was munching on the driveway next to the paddock as I left the courtyard this morning. She just trotted a few feet ahead of me until finally when I was within a few feet from her in the orchard, she vaulted the fence into the barley field. No sign of the twins. Muffty saw her but was busy following the scent of some partridges which have spent a great deal of time in the gardens in recent weeks.
