The skies above Argyll are about to put on a show 🌌💫
From the Northern Lights dancing overhead to the Milky Way stretching across the sky, Argyll’s remote coastline and islands offer some of the darkest, clearest skies in the country.
WHEN:
The darker months, from late summer into early spring, offer the best viewing conditions once the nights draw in - prime time for both Aurora activity and Milky Way visibility, with the very best Northern Lights chances between October and March.

🌠 Isle of Coll - one of Scotland’s three International Dark Sky Communities in Scotland, with three recognised night-sky viewing sites
🌠 Isle of Gigha (📸) - home to a Milky Way class Dark Sky Discovery Site and Dark Sky Theatre at the north of the island
🌠 Kintyre’s west coast - remote Atlantic-facing locations and low levels of light pollution make it a fantastic mainland option for stargazing
🌠 Isles of Islay & Jura - low light pollution makes for excellent stargazing, with Northern Lights sightings possible too
