I've actively learnt a lot these past 5 years. That's how long David Nicholas Construction LTD has been trading.
Running a business and investing in property is not for the feint of heart, to run a construction company you have to be boardering on insane! It's a tough, tough industry to be a part of.
It's all I know, I've been involved in the industry since I left school 18 years ago. I remember sitting at the breakfast bar in my parents kitchen going through the yellow pages for joinery companies to call and ask for an apprenticeship. My mam hanging over my shoulder pushing me to call another, and another and then one more. Eventually I managed to bag an interview.
Went in there, suited and booted with a shirt that didn't fit, but armed with a bag full of ambition and swagger, I had promised the owner I would work for nothing until he saw the value I had to offer. He gave me a chance. Most likely because of the promise of free labour and nothing else.
I did exactly what I said I would. Turned up every day and grafted for free. He saw the value and took me on as an apprentice joiner. So it begun.....
Fast forward to now and a lot has happened in the 'inbetween' bit! To be perfectly honest, I feel like I'm just at the very start, however, armed with a bag full knowledge from past failures!
I recently saw a post about being on the 'messy middle' part and I was like, oh wow! That's what I've been experiencing the past few years! The post urged to keep pushing forward through this 'messy middle' part and that is where the magic happens!
There's been various times over the past 5 years, where I've questioned my sanity. Seeing absolutely no results, or what I thought were no results. But sitting here looking back the progress has been astounding. I'm a person that will never ever be happy with where I'm at! Always pushing to be the best version of myself. However I will be forever grateful for the life I have built.
I have to thank my mate this morning for pushing me to get out and move my body! I was going to be lazy today 😂 He sent me a photo of his workout and that fired me up to get it done. Always pushing each other to be better!
