Ever heard the saying “don’t cut your nose off to spite your face”?
I went to view a couple of potential investment properties today. Always being open to giving a new mortgage advisor, or any other service provider in this business a chance.
I didn’t need to, I’ve got my brilliant mortgage advisors I always use, I agreed to speak with a new advisor linked to the agency for the two properties.
The viewings ran over, the traffic was crazy, I missed my appointment with the advisor. I followed up with sincere apologies, and asked to reschedule. But, unfortunately the advisor was pretty short in her response, suddenly having no time to see me and suggesting if I needed to see an advisor in the next couple of weeks the agency could find me an alternative as she was too busy to reschedule.
And the upshot of that, I was very polite. I responded
“No problem at all, no rush, I do have a couple of mortgage advisors I usually use, very open to hearing what you had to offer as your experience was praised by the agent.
Happy to have a conversation another time. I work with investors and I am one myself, which means there’ll be plenty of opportunities in the future, with various properties, and the chance hopefully for you to gain some additional business.”
But in reality, I won’t be seeking to speak with this advisor, she’s lost me as a potential customer, and lost the potential of making a significant amount of money now and in the future.
So to everyone out there, think before you cut off a client, you could be making a big mistake. Don’t let your ego get in the way!!
You just never know what business you could be losing out on!
