Lavender Cottage is a cosy Quarryman's cottage set in beautiful countryside, close to the River Camel and only 6 miles from Padstow. It is located at the hamlet of Edmonton & is one of a group of cottages set around a flag stone courtyard with a traditional & very popular Cornish Inn at one end. We have recently added a new 32" freeview television, 3 DAB digital radios including
1 with a i-pod docking station, Playstation 2, washing machine & a set of teak garden furniture. Description of accommodation:
Entering through the front door, the ground floor is open plan with a through kitchen/diner to the lounge. A communal garden can be found at the rear, but each house has an allocated patio area. Both the lounge & kitchen are furnished with beautiful solid oak furniture. Within the lounge there is a log burner which really makes the cottage warm & cosy. Upstairs the cottage has two bedrooms, one with a view of the Camel estuary and Padstow beyond. One bedroom has a double bed, whilst the other has two singles. The bathroom, also upstairs has recently been refitted to a very high standard. There are selection of framed picture & prints in every room. The cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people, but also has a sofa bed in the living room should the need arise .For parents with young children we are also able to offer the use of a travel cot. Well behaved dogs are welcome be prior arrangement & additional cost. Again a dog cage is available in the cottage should it be needed. Things to do & nearby attractions:
Within the cottage itself we have provided a selection of entertainment activities to make any break enjoyable & these include books, puzzles, playing cards, DVDs & a good choice of Playstation 2 games to keep you & in particular the kids entertained. Lavender Cottage is ideally located to explore the beautiful county of Cornwall, & whilst you can't walk across the road to a beach, you can walk 50 paces across the courtyard to the The Quarryman Inn which serves regularly features in the Good Beer & Good Pub guides, they serve steaks to die for!The beer, wine & hospitality is pretty good too & with no need to drive why not enjoy yourself! The cottage is only a mile from the Camel Trail which if you haven't done it is excellent for walking and cycling, although it can get very busy during the main school holidays. After joining the trail you can go south toward Wadebridge & Bodmin or north towards the beautiful fishing village of Padstow. The trail itself is a disused railway line & is very well maintained with a gentle gradient from Padstow to Bodmin, so is suitable for any one to ride. Located towards the top of the Camel estuary, you are in an ideal position to explore the superb beaches on either side of the estuary, as well as the rest of Cornwall. Port Issac the film location for ITV's Doc Martin is only 9 miles away, make a visit & see if you can spot the surgery, school house etc. There are several golf courses within a few miles and some of the best surfing beaches in the country. The Eden Project can also be easily reach within 35-40 minutes, this again is well worth a visit if you have never been. Remember to gift aid your entrance fee, for a free 12 month return pass! The cottage is available to book all year round & believe me Cornwall can be very beautiful at any time of the year so don't just think about going in the summer. During the main summer season bookings are taken on a weekly basis with a Saturday turnaround. We happily take short breaks out of the main summer season & will also consider late minute short breaks in season if the cottage remains available.
