Councillors have voted unanimously against a huge development that could have brought a Lidl and discount retailer to south Middlesbrough.

Lidl’s previous application was refused, with Planning Chair, Cllr Pidwell, saying:
“The application was refused because members believed the proposed development of this site fails the
sequential test & would be detrimental to the vitality & viability of Worksop town centre." But they've resubmitted their plans - don't let Lidl win. Write to your Councillors. Support Worksop town centre.

The manager of Worksop’s Priory Shopping Centre is calling on Bassetlaw councillors to refuse Lidl’s application for a store close to the town’s railway station – fearing it will have a “devastating” impact on the town centre.

Lidl have re-submitted their application for an out-of-town store with coffee shop in Worksop. Lidl first submitted their proposal in 2020. Priory Shopping Centre fought against these plans, with overwhelming support from business owners and the community of Worksop they were rejected at the Planning hearing. We are once again calling on the Worksop community to come together to protect your town centre. Please sign the petition on our website https://www.love-worksop.com/. Their application is going to be decided in the coming weeks so we need to act now.
