Mary's unique journey from a young street hawker to a distinguished entrepreneur and seasoned executive stands as a remarkable testament to resilience and visionary leadership. Across business, education, and community development, she continues to inspire and empower countless individuals, leaving a meaningful imprint in every sphere she engages.

With over 15 years of entrepreneurial experience, Mary is the Founder and Managing Director of FACILITYPRO - Facilities Management Services, a multinational facility management company operating across all 16 regions of Ghana, with additional branches in Togo and Nigeria. Under her leadership, the company has built a reputation for operational excellence, innovation, and high service standards.

She is also the Founder and Managing Director of BRAIN HILL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, a Cambridge-accredited institution recognized for its strong commitment to holistic educational development and academic excellence. Complementing her diverse portfolio is Panache Catering Services Company, a premium catering enterprise delivering top-tier services in Accra.

Beyond enterprise, Mary’s passion for advancing women and girls is reflected in her leadership of the YesSheCan Foundation, which provides mentorship, educational workshops, and advocacy initiatives designed to help women and girls unlock their full potential.

A proud alumna of St. Mary's Senior High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Ghana, where she distinguished herself not only academically but also in student leadership and campus life. During her undergraduate years, she was crowned Miss Legon in 2006 and later served as President of Volta Hall in 2008.

She subsequently obtained an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Ghana Business School and a Master of Philosophy in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Ghana’s Department of Psychology.

Her pursuit of global exposure and executive excellence has led her to participate in several international business and leadership programmes at esteemed institutions, including Temple University, Northeastern University, Howard University, and Cranfield University. She also earned a High-Impact Leadership Certificate from University of Cambridge and an Advanced Negotiation Skills Certificate from Harvard University, reinforcing her global leadership credentials.

Mary has also served as a lecturer at Radford University College, where she taught Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, Leadership, Innovative Management, and Human Resource Management.

Yesterday, a delegation from HERizon Africa, led by our Global Lead, Gifty Boatemaa Annan, had the distinct privilege of meeting with Mr. Leonard Selim Gobah, MPH, MBA, CPH, Social Development Advisor at the British High Commission, Accra to discuss shared priorities around women’s leadership, inclusive governance, and sustainable development.

The engagement forms part of HERizon Africa’s broader institutional outreach strategy aimed at strengthening cross-sector partnerships and deepening collaboration with diplomatic missions and development stakeholders.

The United Kingdom, through its diplomatic missions and development partnerships, has consistently positioned gender equality as central to its foreign policy and international development agenda. Its frameworks emphasize girls’ education, women’s economic empowerment, ending gender-based violence, political inclusion, and strengthening women’s leadership in peace and security processes. Across Africa, UK-supported initiatives have contributed to expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs, increasing female participation in governance, and promoting inclusive growth.

During our engagement with Mr. Leonard Selim Gobah, MPH, MBA, CPH, discussions highlighted the importance of collaborative platforms that amplify women’s voices, promote policy coherence, and drive measurable impact. The UK’s focus on institutional strengthening, safeguarding, and inclusive programming aligns strongly with HERizon Africa’s mission to advance bold, values-driven leadership among African women and girls.

As HERizon Africa prepares for its 2026 Summit, partnerships with institutions that demonstrate sustained commitment to gender equity are both strategic and essential. The visit reaffirmed the value of diplomatic collaboration in shaping ecosystems where African women are positioned to influence global conversations, policy directions, and economic transformation.

OHENEWA is an accomplished Financial Services expert with over twenty years of experience in Banking and Finance, having held senior leadership roles across Commercial and Investment Banking in both Ghana and the United Kingdom.

Her expertise spans business strategy formulation and structuring, financial management and advisory, project management, business evaluation, corporate and project finance, business development, and institutional capacity building. She has advised and supported a wide range of private and public sector institutions, from SMEs to local enterprises and multinational corporations.

She played a pivotal consulting role in the transition of Union Savings and Loans into OmniBSIC Bank, contributing to systems development, the design of a comprehensive corporate banking strategy, and the introduction of innovative financial products and services.

Ohenewa is also a pioneering member of Fidelity Bank Ghana, where she served in several key leadership capacities, including Director, Local and Multinational Corporates; Head, Debt and Syndication; Head, Corporate Credit; and Head, Monitoring & Recoveries. She was instrumental in establishing the Bank’s Commercial Banking Unit and advancing its retail and SME product portfolio. Throughout her tenure, she structured complex credit transactions for SMEs and multinational corporations across sectors including Commodities, Oil & Gas, Mining & Power, Telecommunications, Real Estate, Utilities, Education, Manufacturing, and Non-Bank Financial Institutions.

A leader of remarkable influence and integrity, Ohenewa brings visionary insight, strategic depth, and an unwavering commitment to advancing women’s leadership across Africa and its global diaspora.

As Chairperson, she will serve alongside Kalkidan Esayas, PhD, jointly guiding, shaping, and anchoring the high-level engagements and strategic outcomes of the forthcoming Summit.

We are proud to officially announce Kalkidan Esayas, PhD as the distinguished Summit Chairperson for the HERizon Africa Summit 2026.

Kalkidan Esayas, PhD is an Ecologist and Conservation Biologist who holds a PhD and MSc in Ecological Sciences from the College of Natural Sciences at Addis Ababa University. She also holds an MA in Project Management from the School of Commerce, Addis Ababa University.

She has served in both governmental and non-governmental institutions, leading and managing projects centered on Natural Resource Management, Food Security and Livelihoods, Climate Change, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), Gender, and Economic Empowerment and Development.

Dr. Kalkidan is the recipient of several prestigious accolades, including the 2020 International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) from the U.S. Department of State, the 2023 Beahrs Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) at the Rausser College of Natural Resources, University of California, Berkeley, and the 2023 Women and Enterprise Development Program under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) initiative in India. She has also received multiple awards for her volunteerism and community training contributions. Dr. Kalkidan is a founding member and board member of the U.S. Exchange Alumni Association of Ethiopia.

A leader of remarkable influence and integrity, she brings visionary insight, strategic depth, and an unwavering commitment to advancing women’s leadership across Africa and its global diaspora.
