🇬🇭 Remembering Psalm Adjetefio –The Taxi Driver Who Won Our Hearts💯
Growing up, I used to watch the famous Taxi Driver series… it was such a beautiful TV show that many of us couldn’t miss. That was where I fell in love with the character 😭., the smart and funny taxi driver who made life in Accra look real and entertaining. Today, let’s remember the man behind that role Psalm Adjeteyfio.
Psalm Adjeteyfio was born in 1948 and spent part of his childhood in both Ghana and Nigeria. He moved around a lot while growing up, attending schools in places like Ilesha, Oyo, Lagos, and later Accra. It was during his school days that his love for acting started, especially when he joined a drama group and began performing in front of people.
Before fame came, he was actually a teacher. He trained at Accra College of Education and later taught as a Ga language teacher. Teaching was his profession, but acting was his passion and that passion later changed his life.
His big breakthrough came when he was cast in Taxi Driver. His role as 😭. made him a household name across Ghana. He played the role so naturally that many people saw him as a real taxi driver, not just an actor. He also featured in other movies like Ultimate Paradise, Expectations, and The Chosen One, proving his talent beyond just one role.
However, his later years were not easy. He battled serious health problems, including heart issues, diabetes, and kidney failure. Life became very difficult, and at some point, he publicly asked for support to take care of his medical bills and rent. Some kind-hearted individuals, including Mahamudu Bawumia, came to his aid.
💔 Sadly, on April 8, 2022, Psalm Adjeteyfio passed away at the age of 74.
😭. was more than just a character… he was part of our childhood. He made us laugh, taught us lessons, and brought Ghanaian storytelling into our homes.
His story also reminds us to appreciate our legends while they are still alive.
Rest well, legend
