GHANA AIR FORCE PROVIDES AIRLIFT SUPPORT FOR ECOMIG GHANCOY ROTATION
The Ghana Air Force on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, provided airlift support for the rotation of personnel serving under the ECOWAS Military Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG).
The operation involved the airlifting of ECOMIG Ghana Company (GHANCOY) 10 to the mission area, while personnel of GHANCOY 9 are expected to be conveyed back to Ghana following the successful completion of their one-year operational tour in The Gambia.
During a farewell parade held for ECOMIG GHANCOY 10 at Air Force Base Accra, the Deputy Director General of Joint Operations, Colonel Ernest Nyuur advised personnel to maintain a high level of alertness and professionalism while complying with all laid-down procedures and mission guidelines throughout the deployment.
He further encouraged the troops to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, discipline and integrity while upholding the image and reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces within the mission area.
The Ghana Air Force continues to play a critical role in supporting peace support operations and undertaking tasks in defence of Ghana, as well as contributing towards national security and developmental objectives.
