Day in Madiana
Madiana,a village after brufut, less than 5 minutes from the expensive property in the Gambia brufut height, but remains the most neglected village in urban Gambia, all three governments never considered their existence,it’s really pathetic and unjustifiable the conditions that they are living through.
As I explained this live story about my encounter from Madiana yesterday, a village that battled the sunlight to quashed it existence ,Madiana had their access being either waterlogged or non accessible because bad road conditions ,as I was returning from the village shortly after sunset prayer (Maghreb prayer )hiring a motorist to get me to the main highway at brufut,we arrived to a lake that seemed to be small (Tributaries )bolong, with big stone inside that are hardly visible, at that time of darkness, our motobike ran into big stone and motorist lost control and we plunged in to the water, and got soaked from toe to abdomen ,I was even luckily to have my mobile phones safe and my other belongings in my bag.it’s really sad and disheartening when a community who should be Availed the opportunity to benefit social services like good roads and other social services,it unbelievable a community with such a close proximity to the main urban hub, will be without such valuable services.we would like to remind government of their responsibilities ,because the residents are tax payers like any other citizen ,why is the neglect, infact there are roads projects priorities to some area, should have been fitting for madianna and the surroundings,I believe the government and other development partners should do any humanly possible to provide this very important services to people of madianna and the surrounding communities, it f one is able to count your development projects, the still represents masses but for countable few, doing a job that you are paid to do ,didnt deserve any credit or gratitude, rather services ought to be delivered by you or someone else’s,please do the work or diligently resign.
