I was scammed by a real estate agent

My name is Fatou Ceesay, a US-based Gambian. In February 2021, while in The Gambia, I saw a plot of land in Bijilo measuring 23 ×14×24.50 ×19m, which I was interested in. After consulting with my husband, we agreed to purchase the land from BMG Properties, owned by one GANA JENG, popularly knowns Njol.

Njol assured me that the land was his.

On the 15th March 2021, I bought the land for D1,300 000 (one million three hundred thousand dalasis). I was represented by a friend, Pateh Jaw and he was given some papers.

In January 2022, I was informed by Pateh that someone else was developing my plot. I was shocked after paying D1.3 million to Njol for the land.

I hired a lawyer for D130,000 to help me recover my money from Njol. The case will soon be in court and I pray that I get a speedy trial.
