As we say goodbye to July, we're looking back at one of the most beautiful traditions of Chania, the “Traditional Strata.”
Music filling the streets, people dancing together, local traditions coming to life, and memories that remind us why summer in Crete feels so special. 🇬🇷💙

🗓️ Every Tuesday evening during the summer
*The word "Strata" means path or journey. During this special event, cultural associations from Chania parade through the Old Town in a vibrant procession, accompanied by the sounds of the Cretan lyra, lute, and traditional singers.
Throughout the route, you'll experience:
- Traditional Cretan melodies and rizitika folk songs.
- Authentic Cretan dances performed in the streets.
- Participants dressed in traditional Cretan costumes.
- Musicians walking alongside the crowd instead of performing on a stage, creating a truly immersive and authentic atmosphere.
