Hidden Secrets of the Forest 🌿🕷️
Out on the forest trail today, I stumbled upon something truly amazing — a trapdoor spider! At first, I thought it was just another patch of soil, until the ground suddenly moved. Beneath a clever little door made of dirt and silk was this secretive hunter waiting patiently for its prey. Nature in Katoka never fails to surprise me — every step holds a story, every discovery a reminder of how alive the forest really is. 🌳✨

🪶 The Anhinga of the Rupununi River

If you travel along the Rupununi River, you might spot this graceful bird perched on a branch with its wings wide open — the Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga), also known as the snakebird. Its long neck moves like a snake when it swims beneath the water.

The Anhinga dives deep to catch fish and other small creatures, but unlike ducks, its feathers aren’t waterproof, so it must spread its wings in the sun to dry. Seeing an Anhinga is a good sign — it means the waters are clean and full of life.

A true beauty of our Rupununi wetlands! 🌿🐦💧
