Under Irish employment law, most employees are legally entitled to rest breaks during the working day under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997.

In general, you are entitled to:
1. A 15-minute break after working more than 4.5 hours.
2. A 30-minute break after working more than 6 hours (which may include the first 15-minute break).
3. At least 11 consecutive hours of daily rest between working days.
4. At least 24 consecutive hours of weekly rest, in addition to your daily rest period.

While breaks do not usually have to be paid unless your contract states otherwise, employers must ensure employees receive their statutory rest entitlements.
