BENGALURU’S BUILDING APPROVAL PROCESS IS GOING DIGITAL.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has launched Nambike Nakshe 2.0, a fully automated system for eligible residential building-plan approvals.
The initial rollout covers residential sites up to 50 × 80 ft, with up to 4 dwelling units. Applications are submitted online through qualified architects, while the system uses the e-Khata number to retrieve ownership and property details digitally.
For plans that comply with applicable planning regulations, the system can process approval in around 30 minutes, compared with the earlier process that could take months. The rollout is currently being implemented on a pilot basis in selected GBA areas.
The bigger change is the move toward automated scrutiny, less paperwork and reduced routine human intervention in residential building approvals.
