PUNE: It has come to the forefront that the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), which is executing some of the big-ticket infrastructure projects across the state, is planning to monetise its land parcels along the Pune-Mumbai expressway.
According to MSRDC sources, 24 land parcels have been identified along the e-way. A total of 450 hectares will be leased to fund major infrastructure projects, such as the Samruddhi expressway, Pune ring road, Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor and Jalna Nanded expressway, among others.
For the unversed, the land will be leased for a period of 99 years for monetising these projects. Radheshyam Mopalwar, Managing Director, MSRDC, said that the plan is currently being implemented in Pune and Raigad districts for leasing lands along the e-way. "The land parcels of the MSRDC were lying vacant, so we have taken the decision to monetise our key projects," he said.
As per information trickling in from the MSRDC quarter that engages in the land acquisition process, a tender has been floated for the land parcel at Panvel and a similar one will be floated for Pune, too.
For the unaware, while the MSRDC has 189 hectares of land in Pune district, it has 262 hectares in Raigad which will be leased. Interestingly, funds from the same will be utilised to expedite all major projects. The land parcels belong to 12 villages each in both the districts.
Incidentally, some of the land parcels are owned by the corporation, while others have been assigned by the government to raise funds for the infrastructure projects. The strategy would be to float tenders for a long lease. With the land parcels being close to the e-way, wayside amenities can be set up or developers can go in for residential constructions.
