40 km of sea views. No cars. No stress.

The Flower Riviera Cycling Path runs all the way from Ospedaletti to Andora along a former railway line, passing through Sanremo, Imperia, Cervo and some of Liguria’s most beautiful hidden coastal villages.

One of those experiences that reminds you slow travel is often the best travel.

Would you ride all 40 km or stop for lunch and gelato every few kilometers?

📍 Save for your next Liguria adventure. 🚲🌊

If you're living in Genova or Liguria and enjoy outdoor activities — this is the coastal cycling path you really shouldn't miss.

Ciclabile Riviera dei Fiori.40km. Entirely along the sea. Entirely flat.

Built on the bed of an old coastal railway line — no gradients, no cars, impossible to get lost. It runs from Ospedaletti to Andora, passing through Sanremo, Imperia, Cervo and a string of small villages that many people living in Liguria for years have still never visited.

10 stops along the route:**

🟢 Ospedaletti· km 0 — start here, rent your bike at the station
🎵 Sanremo· km 5 — old port, morning focaccia, the real city not the festival version
🏖️ Arma di Taggia· km 10 — local beach, not touristy, unhurried
🌊 Riva Ligure· km 13 — small piazza, good gelato, locals actually use it
🌿 Santo Stefano al Mare· km 15 — small, quiet, easy to underestimate
💙 San Lorenzo al Mare· km 18 — the closest the path gets to the water, sea on both sides
🫒 Imperia· km 25 — stop for lunch, walk up to Oneglia and look back at everything you've just cycled through
🌴 Diano Marina· km 31 — wide beach, palm trees, good place to rest
🐟 San Bartolomeo al Mare· km 34 — quieter, cleaner, less known
🏰 Cervo · km 36 — lock the bike and walk up the hill. Worth every step.

Practical notes:

- From Genova: train to Sanremo approx. 90 min · Ospedaletti is one stop further
- Bike rental: 15–20 euro/day at Ospedaletti or Sanremo
- Recommended one way — take the train back from Andora
- Best months: April–May and September–October
- July–August weekends: crowded and hot — go early if you go in summer

What makes this route special is a combination that's genuinely rare: accessible to almost anyone, and somehow still not overrun with tourists. Not every day off needs to be Cinque Terre. Sometimes you just want a slow day — take the train, rent a bike, follow the coast, stop whenever you feel like it. No itinerary pressure.

Cervo is the stop worth making time for. A medieval stone village on a hill above the sea, a baroque church facing the water, almost no one there — sitting right off the main path but easy to miss if you don't know to look for it. Not the famous spot. The one that feels like you found it yourself.

And the old railway tunnels are unlike anything else on the Riviera. Cycling through rock, cool and dark, and then suddenly an opening — a framed rectangle of turquoise water below, maybe a sailboat in the distance. The kind of moment that stays with you longer than most photographs do.

If anyone has done this route — would love to hear which section you'd go back to.

💜 Looking for a summer day trip from Genova?

You don’t need to travel all the way to Provence to walk through endless lavender fields.

Just a few hours from Genova, the rolling hills of Alta Langa in Piemonte transform into a sea of purple every summer. Locals even call it the “Italian Provence.”

Imagine spending the day wandering through fragrant lavender fields, discovering charming hilltop villages, tasting local wines and cheeses, and enjoying some of the most beautiful countryside in Northern Italy.

Late June and early July are the best weeks to visit, when the lavender is in full bloom and the landscape becomes a photographer’s dream.

If you’re staying with us in Genova, this makes a perfect day trip or weekend escape beyond the Italian Riviera.

🇮🇹 Genova isn’t just a city.

It’s the birthplace of pesto, focaccia, and some of Italy’s most underrated food.

From Trofie al Pesto and Farinata to fresh seafood by the harbor, these 10 local specialties tell the story of Liguria better than any guidebook.

Eat where the locals eat.
Slow down.
Enjoy the sea.

🌊 Beautiful Day Trips from Genova 🇮🇹

One of the best things about staying in Genova is that you can explore so much without changing hotels.

Within just a couple of hours, you can be wandering through the colorful fishing villages of Portofino, swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Cinque Terre, sipping coffee in Monaco, tasting wine in Barolo, or driving through the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Liguria is not a destination you rush through. It’s a place to slow down, enjoy long lunches by the sea, discover hidden villages, and create memories that stay with you long after the trip ends.

At No Vacancy Genova, we love helping our guests experience the Italian Riviera like locals — not tourists.

If you’re in Genova this weekend… don’t stay inside 🇮🇹✨

From free focaccia festivals and seaside aperitivo nights to museum openings and local street events, Liguria is full of life this week.

One thing I love about Italy is that even small local events feel special. People gather outside, eat slowly, talk for hours and enjoy the evening like it’s a tradition.

This weekend in Genova:
🍕 Recco Focaccia Festival
⚽ Festa dello Sport at Porto Antico
🏛 European Museum Night
🍝 Sagra del Raviolo
🏡 Historic Villas Day
🍷 Truogoli in Festa

Guests always ask us: “Is there much to do in Genova?”
The answer is always the same — more than you’d expect.
In one week at No Vacancy, we’ve sent guests to Cinque Terre, Portofino, Siena, Bologna — and they were back at the harbour for dinner every evening.
That’s what a home in Porto Antico makes possible. You’re not just staying in a city. You’re staying at the centre of everything.
