Get off the beaten path and explore one of the hidden gems of Chiba — the Kotoku-ji Temple featuring hundreds of Rakan statues gathered in rows around the buddha and bodhisattva images. The serene grounds require a bit of a commute and a walk if you take public transport; but it is less than 30 minutes by car from Sumi Dai Ni. If you fancy a walk around Sumi Dai Ni, you can stroll along Toricho Park. About 20 minutes by foot, you will find this quiet, tree-lined park just behind Chiba Shrine. It’s one of the parks in close proximity where you can unwind and pass the time as you prepare for another big day of sightseeing the day after.

Chiba City Folk Museum [Chiba Castle] is just a quick 15minute walk from Sumi Dai Ni and could be your first sight seeing spot after you’ve settled in our private accommodation!

"The Chiba City Folk Museum was constructed in 1967 on the former site of Chiba Castle, and is modeled after a traditional Japanese castle. The museum collects, preserves, researches, and displays historical materials related to the culture and history of Chiba city. Be sure to see the exhibit on the Chiba clan, which ruled the area between the 12th and 16th centuries."

From here it's just a 15-minute walk to the JR Uchibo/Sotobo Line Hon-chiba station or a 13-minute walk to the Chiba Urban Monorail Kencho-mae station to continue your journey!
