Shinagawa is a safe, family friendly area. It connects to seven different train lines, so it might be a bit crowded during the day. However, outside of the station, it is a nice and quite place. Those how have children and wanna live in slightly quite area, then Shinagawa is a good station.
You will find facilities, such as a gym, library, parks and also a great ocean views, which never get bored.

Every body who have been in Tokyo, know definitely about the area of Shinjuku.
It is the most busiest station in Tokyo! Since there are nine train lines connecting to Shinjuku station, there is no wonder that this is the busiest station Tokyo's.
With restaurants, department stores, offices, around the station, there is nothing you can't find!
Also, Shinjuku has several entertainment spots for tourists, such as the robot restaurant and the Kabukicho area with the atmospheric bar street Golden G*i.
To be honest, Shinjuku is likely to Shibuya and Ikebukuro where it can become pretty noisy in the nights with a lot of drunk people.
The area is basically for some one who love the night life.

That is also the reason, why the are only a few residential places around. So, if you may not like the crazy life, people used to have in this area, then you should think to live somewhere else.
However, Shinjuku is also one of the most popular areas in Tokyo, so there must be some attractive point too.
Unlikely to Ikebukuro, Love hotels are located in a specific area, so as you avoid to go there, the you won't have any problem.

Also, for anime lovers the place is right for you, since you will have the chance to visit animate and all of the goods retail shops.

Nakano is well-known for its large shopping complex called, Nakano Broadway. You'll find all kinds of stuffs sold in there. Most of people do not know about Nakano area so well, but it is actually a really nice city, with many affordable apartments. While Nakano is an university area, it also means that there are a lot of delicious restaurants with a cheap price.
Furthermore, Nakano has two train lines you can take and both of them connects to all the central stations in Tokyo with maximum one transfer. For instance, Shinjuku is just 5min. away!

On the other hand, Nakano has many bars and pubs, so you will see lots of drunk people around. Also, there are only a few street lights near the residential area, so it might be a little scary to walk alone.

Omotesando is one of the coolest place in Tokyo. There are many brand shops(such as Louis vuitton; Prada etc.), nice restaurants and cafes. People go there every day, so the area is fulfilled with crowded people.
Also, there are different worldwide companies such as Paypal, Netflix locating in Omotesando, so that is the reason, why the city attracts consumers especially from middle to upper socio-economic class.
Furthermore, if you wanna know about the current fashion, then you should have a walk, to look at people living there, since they are specialists for the current trend.
Using public transportation, you can easily go to Omotesando, so people are meeting there friends sitting at a nice restaurants having delicious lunch.

Kagurazaka has a lot of shrines and green spaces to discover. Living there, you can do picnics and visit different parks on weekends. Furthermore, you'll have the chance to discover local festivals, which are organized by small groups of people. Access is convenient in Kagurazaka, since you can go to Tokyo Dome City in 30 minutes by walk. There are many shops, restaurants and even a roller coaster on the top!

Asakusa is a famous sightseen spot for people all around the world. For instance, Sensoji is a temple which you must visit at least once, in your journey in Tokyo!
Next to the temple, you can find the great paper lantern of Kaminarimon, where people used to take pictures in front of it.
Furthermore, beside Sensoji, there are more incredible things to visit and entertain.
Such as the oldest shopping street called Nakamise Dori, is located beyond Kaminarimon and leads to the temple's main hall. Along the street, you'll find different shops for Japanese souvenirs and delicious snacks.

Tokyo Skytree is a famous sightseen spot for foreigners which is located in 押上(Oshiage).
Next to the tower, you will see a huge shopping mall called Soramachi, in which you can do some shopping; visit the planetarium or go see fishes, penguins at Sumida Aquarium.

Few minutes away from the Oshiage station, there is a Nitori, where you can buy furniture and home appliances for a good deal.
Also, one floor downstairs, is a supermarket and a popular American restaurant called "Sizzler".
