GAMBLING FOR TIME.

Just as the probation of the antediluvian world ended seven days before the flood, so the probation of the planet will close seven plagues before Jesus appears. During those desolating, end-time seven last plagues, the Bible says no one can enter the temple in heaven (Revelation 15:8). There will be no intercessor for the human race. The great edict will have gone forth, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still … and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly” (Revelation 22:11, 12). Millions are waiting in the vain hope that some special event will signal that they can quickly make the necessary preparation to meet the returning Lord. Like Felix, they intend to take advantage of that “more convenient season.” And while they linger, their hearts grow harder and their wills more indecisive. They lose the precious ability to judge their own need, or discern the panoramic signs of the end.

During the excavation of the ruins of Pompeii, they found the skeleton remains of a woman who was apparently running from the fiery river of lava that was pouring down the side of Mt. Vesuvius. Clutched in her bony, skeletal hands were two jeweled earrings. It was not hard to figure out exactly what had transpired in the experience of that woman. It was obvious that she had been alerted to the approaching destruction and had dashed back in the house to save the baubles in her hands. But the delay made it impossible to outrun the stream of death, and she was overtaken and buried under the lava and ash. Let me ask you a question. What was wrong with that woman? Where did she make her big mistake? The answer is easy. She thought she had more time than she really had. That is the same mistake that the majority of human beings are making today as the holocaust of destruction approaches. There is not an unbaptized, uncommitted individual in the world who is not making that mistake. They want to be saved and intend to do it someday, but they calculate that there is still plenty of time.

Are you one who has been postponing the day of decision, that unreserved surrender of your will? Please let me address you for a moment. There is a small chance that you may be right and that you will have another opportunity—but it is only a chance! There is another chance that you are dead wrong. You are gambling over the salvation of your soul. You are playing a deadly game of Russian roulette over eternal life. Every day that passes, the stakes go higher and higher and your chances of winning become less and less. The cards are stacked against you. Why gamble that you will have another chance in the future? You don’t have to gamble. You have a chance right now. The door of the ark is still open, and it’s only a step inside. Why not settle the uncertainty this very moment? Surrender your will and say Yes to the loving Savior, who longs to give you His peace and assurance.

At all times and in all places, in all sorrows and in all afflictions, when the outlook seems dark and the future perplexing, and we feel helpless and alone, the Comforter will be sent in answer to the prayer of faith. Circumstances may separate us from every earthly friend; but no circumstance, no distance, can separate us from the heavenly Comforter. Wherever we are, wherever we may go, He is always at our right hand to support, sustain, uphold, and cheer.

WORRY IS BLIND AND CANNOT DISCERN THE FUTURE, DON'T GIVE ROOM TO WORRY.

There are many whose hearts are aching under a load of care because they seek to reach the world's standard. They have chosen its service, accepted its perplexities, adopted its customs. Thus their character is marred, and their life made a weariness. In order to gratify ambition and worldly desires, they wound the conscience, and bring upon themselves an additional burden of remorse. The continual worry is wearing out the life forces. Our Lord desires them to lay aside this yoke of bo***ge. He invites them to accept His yoke; He says, "My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." He bids them seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and His promise is that all things needful to them for this life shall be added. Worry is blind, and cannot discern the future; but Jesus sees the end from the beginning. In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief. Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. Those who accept the one principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet. DA 330.1

BEWARE OF PROCRASTINATION!

Procrastination has lots of time. It has 25 hours in a day and an 8th day of the week called “Someday.” Procrastination’s busiest day is tomorrow—the day it makes major decisions, accomplishes great things, and effects important changes. Trusting Procrastination to do what needs to be done? Yesterday it promised “one of these days,” and today it’s pledging to do it “later.” But to do it later is to do it late, and one of these days is NONE of these days. Have no faith in Procrastination’s promises or achievements. It will ruin your dreams, opportunities, and destiny (Proverbs 6:6-11; Acts 24:24, 25). To get things done, begin NOW!—for “Now” is the only time Procrastination can guarantee!

THE EVIDENCE OF LOVE.

Scars are often things we want to hide from the public. They are reminders of pain and hurt. However, there are some scars that we can take pride in. We can take pride in the scars left in a Savior who fought to save us from the pain and suffering of this world. Through His suffering, He has provided a way for us to be healed.

One of my favorite quotes is from The Desire of Ages page 25. E. G. White writes:
Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which was His. “With His stripes we are healed.”

I am continually amazed by the fact that Christ suffered so much for a race of sinful human beings. His suffering has become a way for each of us to be healed from the pain and hurt caused by sin. By showing us His scars, He is reminding us that there is still hope, that He is fighting for our salvation.
It reminds me of the verse in John 15:13: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Jesus truly showed that love towards us!
