REFLECTION:NOT ALL GLOOMY.* Ps.104:19 He made the moon to mark the seasons.

After a very difficult and sad season in the neighbourhood, that was filled with death, fighting, accidents, and bad incidents, a young lady decided to change the season.
She was determined to counter the bad things that were happening. She bought two pumpkins and wrote with a permanent marker the one thing she was grateful for.She wrote "Sunshine". Soon passers-by added to her list. You could see, "a warm house, name of a loved one, fresh air, a dog's name, parents, spouse names, work, etc"
By the time that week ended, there were so many pumpkins on the side road with positive things that the neighbours were grateful for.Indeed a new season of gratefulness had come.
Ps.104 offers a litany of praise to God for things we easily overlook. The waters of the Sea, the mountains and the valleys, grass growing for livestock, food growing for people to eat, the animals, the day, the night, etc.
As we pass through challenges in our lives and even in our country, it's not all gloomy! I wonder what you could write on the two pumpkins that i have.I begin by writing, "grace to write this reflections,...whose next?🤔

*REFLECTION: LOOK UP!.* Ps.121:2 My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. The Psalms known as the 'Songs of Ascents', were sang by the people of Israel as they walked the road upto Jerusalem to attend the three annual pilgrim festivals. The Psalmist in Ps.121 begins by asking himself, I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from?

He answers himself by saying, "my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth".God is not aloof to our circumstances, He guides us and guards our journey through life, both now and forever more. And along life's path, we need to keep our eyes fixed on God, our source of help. As the Israelites walked the journey, they lifted their eyes and looked to the Lord for help.

When we are feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, its alright to speak to yourself and say, "look up", for you never walk alone. In Jesus's name.Amen.🙏

REFLECTION: TURN IT OFF.* MK.6:31 Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while...they did not even have time to eat.
Two kids were visiting their rural home at one time, and they struggled to get a good reception on their T.V.
One finally asked, "we are only getting one channel on T.V and we don't like it, what can we do?". Their grandma replied, "How about turning it off ?" It was not exactly the advice they were looking for, especially thinking of the many devices, channels of entertainment, information, that were available. Sometimes in life we need to turn it all off and rest our minds for a little while. We simply need to unplug.

Jesus often drew aside for a time to pray and strategize. In this verse today, He encourages the disciples to step aside briefly, for they couldn't even find time to eat!
In today's busy world we need to take the example and wisdom of Jesus and get away by ourselves, and get some rest. This would be good for our body, mind and spirit. It's good to turn off all distractions once in a while.Turning down the volume of life allows you to listen carefully to God.
May the Lord help us to intentionally get some times of rest, even as we engage in our works. In Jesus's name.Amen.🙏

Henry Bosch told of a story of a young boy who saw a sale of puppies in the neighbours yard, written "Puppies for Sale". The young boy asked the price and was told it was 25 dollars, whereas he only had 2 dollars. The boy looked crushed with dissapointment. Just then he saw one of the puppies had a bad leg and he immediately went to pick it up.The owner mentioned that it was sad, that puppy had to live crippled for life. The boy then replied, "that's the puppy I want." Shocked, the owner asked why? The boy replied," this puppy will require a lot of love and help, and that I can give."The boy then lifted his trousers to the owner and revealed that he also had a bad leg. "Here, take her", said the owner, "I know you shall give her a good home. And forget about the money."
This story illustrates our Savior's sympathetic understanding of our human condition.Christ knows all about our weaknesses and struggles. Having suffered himself, He can identify with our struggles.
The Lord is touched by our distress and grief, He will carry us through every heartache and trial. In Jesus's name.Amen.🙏
