A while ago , we started conversations about how community groups handle medical emergencies.
Our findings shows that many community groups already support members during medical emergencies.
But the process is rarely structured.
In most cases, contributions begin only after someone falls sick ,through calls, WhatsApp messages, or small gatherings to raise funds.
It's clear that:
People are unwilling to contribute, but the system is not designed for healthcare.
And without structure, support becomes unpredictable.
At AfyaShare Africa, we’re exploring how communities can move from reactive fundraising to ongoing preparedness, so that access to care is not delayed when it matters most.
