On 4 June 2026, Mr. Hugo Immanuel Garcia, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Seoul, represented H.E. Ambassador António DE SÁ BENEVIDES at the Opening Reception and Special Viewing of the Art Exhibition entitled “Philippines–Korea: Enduring Friendship Through Art.”

The event was held at 16:00 at the Philippine Showroom, Ground Floor, Suite 102, President Hotel, Seoul, upon the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines.

The exhibition highlighted the enduring friendship between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea through artistic expression, serving as a meaningful platform for cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and people-to-people connectivity.

The Embassy of Timor-Leste values such initiatives as important avenues for promoting cultural diplomacy and fostering closer relations among ASEAN Member States and partners. Seoul, 2 June 2026 — Mr. Hugo Immanuel Garcia, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in the Republic of Korea, attended the reception commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, representing H.E. Mr. António de Sá Benevides, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the Republic of Korea.

Hosted by H.E. Emilia Gatto, Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Korea, the reception brought together members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, and distinguished guests to celebrate the National Day of Italy and further strengthen friendship and international cooperation.

The Embassy of Timor-Leste extends its warm congratulations to the Government and people of Italy on this special occasion and wishes them continued peace, prosperity, and success.

The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Seoul, represented by Mr. Hugo Immanuel Garcia, First Secretary and Chargé d’Affaires a.i., on behalf of H.E. Ambassador António de Sá Benevides, participated in the Study Visit to the Lotte Group Research & Development (R&D) Center organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul in its capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Seoul (ACS).

The program was held on Thursday, 28 May 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00 hrs at the Lotte Group R&D Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea, with the participation of ASEAN Ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN Missions residing in Seoul.

The visit included presentations and tours of Lotte’s Food Safety Center, Beverage Department Laboratory, Confectionery Department Laboratory, HMR Department Laboratory, The Cacao Lab, Museum L, and the Consumer Ergonomics Center, highlighting innovation, food technology, product development, and research cooperation.

Timor-Leste highly appreciates the initiative of the Royal Thai Embassy and the ASEAN Committee in Seoul in promoting engagement and cooperation between ASEAN Missions and leading Korean industries and institutions.

The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Seoul through Mr. Hugo Immanuel Garcia, First Secretary and Chargé d’Affaires, representing H.E. Ambassador António de Sá Benevides, participated in the reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 on 26 May 2026 at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul.

On 23 May 2026, the Third Secretary, Mr. António Santa, represented His Excellency Ambassador António de Sá Benevides at the ASEAN Youth Convergence in Korea 2026 (AYCK 2026), took place at SK Mirae Hall, Korea University.

The ASEAN Youth Convergence in Korea 2026 was spearheaded by Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea (PIKO), an organization of Filipino scholars in Korea, in collaboration with the ASEAN Youth Network in Korea (AYNK). Guided by the theme, “Building Bridges Across the SEA: Advancing ASEAN–Korea Relations,” the symposium convened ASEAN and Korean students, scholars, professionals, and diplomatic representatives in a meaningful dialogue on regional cooperation, youth leadership, and cross-cultural engagement.

Representatives from the Timorese Students Association in Korea also actively participated in the event. In particular, Ms. Deotania Maria da Silva, Vice-President of the Timorese Students Association in Korea, delivered a keynote speech during the discussion sessions, highlighting the importance of youth participation in strengthening ASEAN–Korea relations and promoting mutual understanding among the peoples of the region.

The conference was organized with the following objectives:
• To deepen understanding among youth of ASEAN–Korea relations and emerging regional issues;
• To promote youth-led initiatives and perspectives on diplomacy, regional cooperation, and digital connectivity;
• To foster networks among students, embassies, government agencies, and partner institutions; and
• To encourage sustained collaboration between ASEAN and Korean stakeholders in support of inclusive and sustainable development.

The event brought together ASEAN youth, Korean and international students, embassy and diplomatic representatives, government officials, academics, and professionals with a shared interest in ASEAN–Korea cooperation and youth engagement. Through constructive dialogue and collaborative exchange, the symposium reaffirmed the important role of young leaders in advancing regional understanding, strengthening people-to-people ties, and contributing to a more connected and inclusive ASEAN–Korea partnership.
