Nil Diya Pokuna Tourism Activities to be Regulated
Tourism activities at the iconic Nil Diya Pokuna will soon operate under the formal supervision of the Department of Wildlife Conservation following recent Cabinet approval. Located within an underground cave complex in the Ravana Ella Sanctuary in Ella, this unique natural water source has drawn widespread attention from local and foreign travelers for its remarkable geological features. To safeguard the site, a technical committee comprising university academics and government officials conducted a comprehensive study to establish sustainable management guidelines. With clearance from the Legal Draftsman, the Environment Ministry will officially publish these new regulations in the Gazette under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance, striking a balance between controlled tourism and long-term natural conservation.
