Australian Bungalow - Din l-Art Helwa

Australian Bungalow - Din l-Art Helwa The Australian Bungalow is being restored by NGO Din l-Art Helwa, the National Trust of Malta, and will be set up at Ta' Qali.

The Australian Bungalow was brought to Malta in the early 1920s to enable prospective Maltese migrants to Australia to learn more about their new environment and to be able to dismantle and rebuild such structures. This is believed to be the only remaining example of these bungalows, which were sent in 'flat-pack' form to various countries in the Commonwealth by the Australian government.

FLASHBACK!

Main contractor Alan Debattista of Chillis Chilli had shown round former DLH president Alex Torpiano some months ago. You can see the terrible state that the bungalow was in - some of it could be restored but some had to be replaced from scratch.
