Himanshu, born in Sitarganj, Uttarakhand, and raised in Sirauli, Bareilly, faced immense hardships during his childhood due to his family’s poor financial condition. He traveled 70 km daily to attend school, helped his father run a small roadside tea stall, and gave tuition classes to support his family.

Determined to overcome his struggles, he pursued higher education at Hindu College, Delhi University, and secured a good job. Yet, he decided to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, balancing his studies while working as a research scholar at a government college to support his family.

Himanshu cleared the UPSC exam three times without coaching. In his first attempt, he qualified for Civil Services but was selected for the IRTS. In 2019, he secured the 309th rank and became an IPS officer. Finally, in 2020, he achieved his dream of becoming an IAS officer, earning an impressive All India Rank of 139.
