Friday 12th june 2026 Tsogolo Lowala Deaf Foundation participated and had a meaningful engagement session organized by ArtGlo, where members gathered to watch 'We Name Ourselves' a powerful documentary highlighting the lived experiences of young people in refugees and how creativity, especially poetry can be used as a tool for self-expression, advocacy and social change.

The discussion that followed provided an opportunity to reflect on the challenges refugees face, the importance of inclusion and the need for collective action in promoting dignity and better opportunities for all. Together, we continue learning, engaging and advocating for positive community transformation.

As tsogolo lowala embarked on working with other organizations to ensure that inclusion as a tool to bring all affected together and that they are having equal opportunities so that policies are followed and nurtured to sustain them.

Mapping the next step to improvise inclusion to persons with disabilities in all cornerstones this is indeed a great and powerful tool to the disability community.

We should always stand high to maintain our objective and impact to ensure that all persons with disability are looked into in times like these for proper ex*****on of plan so that no one is left behind.

This is good and commendable

World Assistive Technology Day

Today, as the world commemorates World Assistive Technology Day, we celebrate the life changing technologies that continue to improve accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities. From schools and workplaces to places of worship, sports and everyday activities, assistive technologies have made it possible for millions of people to participate more fully and independently in society.

For people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, hearing aids play a vital role in bridging communication gaps and connecting them to the sounds and conversations around them. These devices help enhance communication, increase confidence and create greater opportunities for participation in all aspects of life.

This day is an important milestone for the disability community. It reminds us that assistive technology is not a luxury but it is a tool for inclusion, dignity and equal opportunity. As innovation continues to advance, we must work together to ensure that everyone who needs assistive technology can access it and benefit from it.

Assistive Technology: Empowering Ability, Promoting Inclusion and Transforming Lives.

Today, the disability community bids farewell to Mr. Charles Khaula, a dedicated leader and champion of disability rights. Throughout his years of service, he worked tirelessly to promote inclusion, equality and the empowerment of persons with disabilities, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives and the disability movement as a whole.

As he is laid to rest today, we honor his remarkable legacy and unwavering commitment to the disability family. His contributions will continue to inspire us and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

The continued killings, attacks and discrimination against persons with albinism remain one of the darkest violations of human rights in our society and in history. It is heartbreaking that in this generation persons with albinism are still being hunted, harmed and murdered simply because of the color of their skin and harmful myths created by ignorance and greed.

Persons with albinism are HUMAN BEINGS too. They deserve dignity, protection, equality and freedom like everyone else. No child should grow up in fear because of a condition they were born with. No parent should live in constant anxiety that their son or daughter could become a target of violence. No community should stay silent while innocent lives are being destroyed.

The silence surrounding these brutal acts only empowers the perpetrators to continue instill fear among our friends with albinism. We must speak louder. We must demand stronger action from authorities, community leaders, law enforcement agencies and every institution is responsible for protecting lives of persons with disability at all cost. Justice delayed is justice denied. Those responsible for these attacks and killings of persons with albinism must be arrested, prosecuted and punished accordingly.

Beyond justice, we need education and awareness. Harmful beliefs and superstitions continue to fuel violence against persons with albinism. Communities must be taught the truth: albinism is a genetic condition and not a curse or part of witchcraft and it is not a source of wealth or luck as to what the myth says whilst Spreading misinformation has a deadly consequences.

As citizens, activists, organizations of persons with disabilities and human rights defenders we must stand together to protect the rights of persons with albinism. Advocacy is not optional - it is necessary. Inclusion is not charity - it is justice. Safety is not a privilege - it is a human right.

Today we raise our voices for every life lost, every survivor living in fear and every child who deserves a future free from discrimination and violence. We cannot normalize these killings. We cannot look away. We cannot remain silent.

It is sad to see one of the icon in albinism community Chipiliro Laston lost his life from criminals that took his life..... His soul may not rest until Justice is served!

Enough is enough.

Protect persons with albinism.
End the killings.
End discrimination.
Deliver justice.
Promote inclusion.
Protect humanity.

As we celebrate Kamuzu Day, we honor him for his disability inclusion agenda, especially the establishment of special schools for the Deaf. Thanks to this the Deaf are able to communicate in sign language. We also appreciate his efforts in establishment of MACOHA (now MACODA) where Deaf learn vocational skills.
