🏳️🌈 A Very Mexican Pride — And a Reminder of Why Visibility Still Matters
Puerto Vallarta Pride 2026 brought more than 40,000 people to the streets of the Zona Romántica, making it one of the largest Pride celebrations in the city’s history. The theme, “La Nueva Era: Un Pride Muy Mexicano,” highlighted both the vibrant celebration and the continued importance of LGBTQ+ visibility and inclusion. (Meridiano Vallarta)
But beyond the floats, music, parties, and record-breaking attendance lies something equally important: reflection.
For many longtime members of the LGBTQ+ community, Pride was never simply a celebration. It was a statement. A way to be visible during a time when being openly LGBTQ+ carried significant personal and social risks.
Today, Pride in Puerto Vallarta is a world-renowned event that attracts visitors from around the globe. That progress is worth celebrating. It is also worth remembering the generations of advocates, activists, and community members whose efforts helped create the freedoms many enjoy today. (Meridiano Vallarta)
As Puerto Vallarta continues to be recognized as one of the most welcoming LGBTQ+ destinations in Mexico and Latin America, Pride remains both a celebration of how far we’ve come and a reminder that visibility, inclusion, and community still matter. (vallartapride.org)
