On Wednesday, we closed on a really special property and this one deserves to be told properly.
Joe and Sonja have spent the last four years traveling across the Americas, especially South America, looking for a place that actually felt like home. Not just a stop, but somewhere they could land.
Joe first reached out in late December, and from the start it was clear he was incredibly intentional. He sent over one of the most detailed spreadsheets I’ve ever seen. Rankings, price per square meter, pros and cons by location… everything was thought through.
In January we got to work. Long days, back-to-back showings. We saw it all. Old homes, new builds, big, small, renovated, fixer-uppers. There were a lot of “almosts,” but nothing that really clicked. We even brought in architects and interior designers to see if we could turn one of the options into the right fit, but it still wasn’t quite there.
Then I remembered a house that had been on the market the year before but had since been taken off. I reached out to the owner, who we’ve worked with before, and asked if there was any chance he’d consider selling. His answer was simple: not officially, but everything has a price.
We got in to see it, and the moment Joe and Sonja looked at each other, you could feel it. That was the one. No hesitation, no overthinking. It just made sense.
We moved quickly. The offer was sent and accepted, and in less than 60 days, they went from still searching to officially calling Puerto Morelos home. Suitcases down, at least for a while.
It wasn’t the easiest deal, there were time constraints and a lot to coordinate, but the team at helped make it happen smoothly.
Welcome home, Joe and Sonja..
