In Mexico, we say DĂŤA DE MU***OS. But somehow, when our beautiful tradition crossed the border, it picked up an extra word and became DĂŤA DE LOS MU***OS.
Is it grammatically wrong? Nope.
Is it how we traditionally say it in Mexico? Also nope.
One possible explanation is that it comes from translating “Day of the Dead” back into Spanish, although we can’t say for sure that’s how it happened.
And this is exactly why learning a language goes beyond grammar and vocabulary. Culture matters too!
So tell me, have you been saying DÍA DE LOS MU***OS this whole time? No judgment… bueno, tantito.
