Nine years ago, the "Pasar Upstairs" in Bukit Mertajam was completely destroyed by fire๐Ÿ”ฅ. At that time, it was identified as a dangerous building, forcing this 46-year-old supermarket into history.

This supermarket was the only supermarket in Bukit Mertajam when our parents were born, and it was also the only place for all BM people to buy groceries.

On February 6 this year, our Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming๐Ÿคตโ€โ™‚๏ธ has announced that 23 million ringgit will be allocated to rebuild the market after an inspection.

Minister Ni said that the reconstruction will not be just a simple market, but like the Kuala Lumpur Central Art Square (๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ค๐ž๐ญ ๐Š๐‹), with an exhibition hall and a creative center๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽจ, allowing sellers to sell creative products!

The reconstruction plan will be divided into 5 parts: 8 million will be used to rebuild the market, 8.5 million will be used for multi-storey car parks, 5 million will be used to upgrade infrastructure, 500,000 will be used for the temporary market during reconstruction and 1million will be used for the creative hub.
