Many many years ago, when I first did my Open Water dive, there was no such thing as water confidence test in the pool first. It was directly to the sea.
Remembered my first day one lessons was to swim 20laps of 300m, sit in the strong current ocean and learn to clear mask and my dive instructor used to put sea urchins below us to test our buoyancy. Yes, I was in the school of hard knocks!
But those hard lessons were the one that got me to pass my water confidence test (though I never trained) for an oversea job as one of the stage10 interview.
Liken to real estate, sometimes we are faced with similar situations like finding, matching and fulfilling clients property need requests. When the pressure is on, you either go all out and swim or give up and die (loosing out to other agents).

Like in real estate, sometimes we have uncontrollable situations (ie strong currents or rough sea) and sometimes get tossed around.
In times like these, we have to rest on our backs (with a lifevest on of course) and stay calm. It is when you are calm, you will float. The moment you let the waves toss you and leaving you anxious, you will definitely sink.
