Some contributions are more than just development projects. They become part of a community and continue creating value for years to come.
We are proud to reflect on a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contribution initiated and co-sponsored by Dato Sri John Lau for the community of Sibu, with a total investment of approximately RM4 million dedicated to the enhancement of Sibu Town Square, a project that was successfully completed on 14 July 2017.
As part of this initiative, Sibu Town Square Park was expanded and upgraded, together with the completion of the extended waterfront jogging track, creating a larger and more vibrant recreational space for the public to enjoy.
The upgraded area now features beautifully landscaped surroundings, healthier green turf, improved drainage systems, well-designed jogging paths, a modern skate park, children’s playground, public toilet facilities, parking spaces, and thoughtfully planned greenery filled with lush trees, all designed to provide a more comfortable and enjoyable environment for the community.
In addition, the 500 metre waterfront promenade has provided the people of Sibu with a refreshing space for morning and evening walks, jogging, family gatherings, and leisure activities while enjoying the beautiful waterfront scenery.
Since its completion in 2017, Sibu Town Square has grown into one of the city’s most beloved public spaces, bringing together families, fitness enthusiasts, and visitors while encouraging a healthier and more active lifestyle within the community.
This contribution reflects Dato Sri John Lau’s long-standing commitment to giving back to society and creating lasting value for the people of Sibu, building not just developments, but meaningful spaces that continue to benefit the community for generations to come.
