Edo2024: Auchi Agenda -a Mirage, Self Deceit or Reality? Part 02
"He who prevents his brother from becoming a King has denied himself access to the Palace as the King's brother."
Let me begin once again with a caveat -that I am first of all an Auchi son before anything else. That I am for Auchi's Interest before my personal gain. That I have always operated in line with one of the Rotarian Parlances which advocates "Community Service Before Self" and thankfully God has not forsaken me.
Having said this, I owe no one any apology for any irking of feelings, emotions or pricked ego that may come off this piece as you may soon read.
Election year after election year we have had reasons to in the aftermath of political and electioneering seasons complain that because we (Auchi people) do not have any elected representatives in stools of Apex power, we continue to have problems that ordinarily would have been solved perchance we had a Deputy Governor, Governor, Representative, Senator from amongst us who we could have called on to salvage our troubling concerns.
Meanwhile, it is us (by our very doings and undoing) that lay in the way to act as the malignant recalcitrant that would encourage the voting world to see our son or daughter vying for political power in bad light.
As God would have it this year, we have just one noble personality of Auchi, Etsako, Afemai extraction who has been picked by the Labour Party -a party that has fortunately become a third formidable leg in the political tripod of Edo State to run as the Deputy Governorship Candidate in the forthcoming Guba Polls slated for September 2024.
Sequel to this development and not surprising, many of us had our reservations. Many quickly sold the narrative that he - Yusuf Asamah Kadiri is not the DG candidate of LP (because it was not his name that was in the papers -as it were) and whenever and wherever they went, they would speak poorly about their own son -stating that he is out to cause mischief.
Sadly, someone I respect so much once said publicly that Auchi's 2nd Senior Advocate of Nigeria who doubles as the Yerimah of our community is out to deceive electorates with the Auchi Interest Antique with a view to wasting their votes.
Hmmm.
Question is, now that a Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled in favour of his Candidacy, now that his party (Labour Party) has confirmed that indeed Yusuf Asamah Kadiri San is the Deputy Governorship Candidate of their party why have we now resorted to playing yet another ignoble I-am-a-card-carrying-member of Party ABC and Party XYZ -meaning, as a result of your party difference with Asamah, you cannot work in his favour to help him becom the DEPUTY GOVERNOR of Edo state beyond September 2024?
Many now act as if they have amnesia. They have forgotten that each time we say 'Auchi-Okpa' an oath is taken.
They now cling to their party membership cards like it's their pass to Heaven.
They now proudly say that they are party leaders, executives and more just because they do not want to accept the candidacy of their very own flesh and blood -Asamah.
Well, we are gradually heading towards a redefining moment in the annals of our collective history and certain questions are begging for answers.
Chief amongst these questions is;
HOW WILL THE WORLD PERCEIVE Auchi Sacred Kingdom IN THE AFTERMATH OF SEPTEMBER 2024 EDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS IF THEY REFUSED TO VOTE FOR THE ONLY PARTY THAT WAS MAGNANIMOUS ENOUGH TO PICK, DEFEND AND CONFIRM THEIR SON AS THEIR DG CANDIDATE?
Yes, there is no 100% assurance that in voting for his party, he would win and become the next Deputy Governor of Edo State but in giving his party our votes through him (our own) we would have won in the quest for making known to the world that truly Auchi is one community that values and stands by her own.
In this, we would have succeeded in sending a strong message to the world that truly Auchi is our party!
Let me also remind you as I wind down this episode in the series of conscience pricking pennings that in the just held General Elections that brought in President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu , the Labour Party won in Edo State. This is the party that has picked your son.
I rest my pen with the hopes that you find the light within my inklings.
